Stardate 2241.9: Starfleet began to modify the highly sensitive long range subspace transceiver's aboard there Turing-Class cruisers and utilized them to probe deep into Klingon territory to listen in on Klingon communications . Shortly later, the same technique that made it possible for Starfleet eavesdrop in onto Klingon comm's also made it possible to conduct detailed deep scans from a long distance. Soon realizing the dangers of loosing valuable offensive, Starfleet restricted one Turing-Class Starship per task force and given specific orders to be the first starship to withdraw in the event retreat was the last remaining resort. On Stardate 2243.3, the U.S.S. Lakota under the command of Captain Hinto Wicapi-wakan was the first to hear about the Klingon's development of the (D-7) K'Tinga-Class Battlecrusier near the Rigel System.
