oh and also, i draw with normal A4 paper. its not so smooth, should i draw with that?Or my sketch book paper or bristol paper, cuz bristol paper isnt that smooth but its good for shading

wow!Thats like an arsenal haha. i dont use mechanical pencils a lot. just for the outlining in the beginning or at the grid drawing part. and my tortillion kinda sux cuz I made it by myself with normal A4 paper cut in half, but its still usefull. my question when i scan stuff on my computer the paper turns pink. so what do I do to fix it?

I have most of those supplies myself. The one question I have for you is do you just use the sides as well as the tips of your tortillions and blending sticks until they are all black or is there a technique like filing the black tips off so you can renew them? I'm new to them and I don't know what to do when they get too black. Honestly. Other than that, thank you for drawing. It's truly an inspiration.

Awesome. This is interesting, seeing as the only thing I use for my crappy drawings is regular pens and pencils.

Thanks for putting this together.

Excellent job on this Nicolien - I must confes however that I often stoop to using my finger *ducks from the blending stumps you throw at me* but I do... old habits die hard.

Wow I'll stop using my fingers now *runs away crying with shame* hey I that I know what a kneeding eraser is........what's a gum eraser do? It just crumbles and is easy to fall apart if you really want it to. You look at it wrong and a piece falls off!!

Lol! I should have you yell at my life drawing teacher. He always used his finger.

I was never able to use my finger because my hands are oily and whenever I did, it would set the graphite to the paper and make it impossible to erase. I always hated drawing in pencil because of it, until I realized I could just wear gloves.

GhettoDaveyHavok In reply to ??? [2008-07-03 03:57:37 +0000 UTC]

using fingers be against the law? maybe ur not using ur fingers right well, if i blend wit my fingers, i make sure my fingers arent oily. if they are, i wash them... but for the past few drawings, i havent been needing anything to blend with i think it just depends on how dark the person was though XD...as for paper, i use cheap sketch shit form walmart ... bristol smoooth boards are also awesome (but theyre little expensive:/). u know wut i also found good to use? PRINTER PAPER! ok, not good quality, but its a tad bit smooth.

Sorry, im just goofy tonight

Hey I have a question. I have such a hard time finding other shades for mechanical pencils. All I ever find is the HB. I don't know if you're from the US, but do you have any idea what store I could go to online or even any in the US?

nice to see what things you use^^ you can always learn new things from other artists.
But hey what's wrong with using the finger? sometime it's the best thing, when you for example wanna smooth out a big area just a little bit. you can use paper or cotton too, but also your finger I think. I like getting dirty

Theres also another type of eraser that doesn't leave and shreddings behind, you know, the stuff you have to blow away after you use the eraser... i forgot what it is called though.

Obligatory cactus :3

>:3 That's an awesum icon.

LilaeaBluecoat In reply to Cataclysm-X [2011-05-07 15:30:59 +0000 UTC]
