Description Here it is, as promised.

Yes, I have a tablet. Yes, this should work with any version of Photoshop even though I used 7. Yes, I did it totally on the computer, but you can scan a sketch/ink and apply the same methods.

I think that covers everything...but probably not.

I have one question about the tutorial. When it says to use the pen-tool, do YOU actually use the pen tool or do you use a tablet? I noticed the lines had a bit of pressure. Or am I just paranoid?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

celesse In reply to RollinHeights [2008-09-06 21:40:49 +0000 UTC]

The pen tool is a tool in Photoshop, so it's a virtual pen (meaning I use it with the tablet)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RollinHeights In reply to celesse [2008-09-06 22:08:26 +0000 UTC]

So what your saying is that you use the pen tool with a tablet. Does that mean if you use the pen tool with a tablet you get the same pressure effect that you'd get without the pen-tool or did you use the "simulate pressure" thing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

celesse In reply to RollinHeights [2008-09-08 02:00:34 +0000 UTC]

The pen tool automatically has pen pressure, at least on my computer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RollinHeights In reply to celesse [2008-09-08 12:45:36 +0000 UTC]

really? even with out the "simulate pressure" on? anyway I got one last question. I was following your tutorial and I was at the part where you start shading, I was using the pen tool, but then after I started to shade a little I tried to shade another part but then when I clicked "fill path" it filled everything but the area I wanted to fill was untouched. It was like inside out. Please help!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

celesse In reply to RollinHeights [2008-09-08 23:50:14 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, I don't use fill path I think we might be talking about a different tool. It used to be called a pen tool in old versions, but now it's called the Brush Tool. Try using that instead?

I feel stupid asking this, but what's the difference between cell shading and normal coloring in Photoshop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

celesse In reply to TheBulletAlchemist [2007-11-26 00:12:31 +0000 UTC]

Cel shading is hard, defined edges of color. Soft shading is blending light parts and shadows together so there's no definable edge between them.

Lol... I can't find out how to see it. But I noticed something you said. "Its near impossible with a mouse."

I know you said near, but a mouse works just as good as a tablet.
