Stamp by ChikitaWolfBackground found on Google~
Edit, March 2015: //laughing hysterically as people get their titties in a twist over a freakishly old stamp//
This stamp was made ages ago, and as I've stated in my stamp gallery, not all my stamps reflect my current opinionsΒ - they're only still up because people happen to like to use them and I'm not gonna be the tard that deletes a stamp when someone happens to like it on their profile.
Do whatever the hell you want with your characters. Seriously. The whole point of having characters in the first place is to have fun; everyone has their own standards on what is and what is not a good character, but no one can force you to follow their specific standards because it's your character, not theirs. On the same token, just don't expect everyone to like your character, because again, everyone has their own standards - and they're damn free to have them as long as they aren't harassing anyone.
"True" in this context is obviously an opinionated standard. It was a rebuttal against the assumption people had back then that all canon x fc was meant to be fangirlistic sex without any real depth. If you wanna get your blood pressure up over it you go right ahead lmao. No skin off my nose.
OLD STAMP DESCRIPTION BELOW:
I'm tired of seeing OCxCanon that is ONLY about sex. There is no plot, theme, morals, etc. It's completely baseless really. How about a storyline? Or maybe the canon characters being IN CHARACTER rather than aggrivatingly OUT OF CHARACTER :/
As it is, OCxCanon has started getting a really bad rep. Rightfully so too with all the senseless OCxCanon that's only about making love
And don't even get me STARTED on the OC pairings with MORE THAN ONE canon character AT THE SAME TIME. Like, what?
Not all the male Canon characters are going to be falling at your OC's feet, people. If they are, your OC is most likely a Mary Sue.
I mean, a one-sided relationship while being paired with another canon character? Confusion between which two (God forbid it be more) canon charas to like? Sure, I guess. But otherwise, to be brutally honest, your OC'll start looking less and less realistic the more men who fall over themselves to get in her bed. Unless it's a poly relationship portrayed correctly??
So please, when you're pairing your OC with a canon character, think about something more than the two of them having sex every which second. It really makes the other OCxCanon pairings look bad
My two cents, having an OCxCanon pairing myself

i only have one pairing really that is my Oc yasu for the anime ao no exorcist and she is paired with rin okumura :'p. The most they have done would be holding hands, hugging, and hanging out with eachother XD nothing related to having sex or anything liek that :/..and when i do write my fanfic i want to actually keep the guy i pair my oc with in character XD so i do some research on how he acts and the other characters in the anime
before i write anything down
. I get what you mean i seen this before with other fandoms, i don't get it
it confuses me D: and pairing your oc with 2 people that also confuses me :'/. I am fine with just one pairing anyway, hardly wanted the first one anyhow, but i felt like it and see what would happen i guess. In the beginning of my fanfic (when i actually write it XD...*) They won't really like eachother right away, that seems boring to me
i think of my ocs as a person, it will take us awhile to get to know someone, theres no *snap* instant friendship in the real world, right XD?

This is the reason why Oc's are given a bad name.
I actually once put time, effort and heart into an OC X Canon and it got half positive and half negative reviews.
I kind of get sick of getting my Oc's mistaken for one of those Mary-sue Oc's.

You can only please so many people :I Ah wellz.
Some of the Mary Sue police are outrageous. It's ridiculous, really.

I sort of don't care about the mary sue police...I take a mary sue quiz every time and all my Oc's to date are around 10-18% sue which is considered not even being a sue so i don't care about what the haters have to say.

I've never been bothered by them, but I don't particularly like how they harrass others :I

I usually learned to deal with them and help others when they are being trolled and harassed by them I kinda like helping fellow Oc X Canon people if they are a truly well thought out and interesting as if it was canon itself. I also tend to help some mary sues turn no sue.

Thanks a bunch for this. What makes a pairing for me is the plot of the story and how the characters grow and change and affect each other. Which is what I look for in nearly any story.
My fanfic spends a lot of time developing my OCxCanon pair and characters, and I focus a lot on their psyches and how they interact with one another--granted, it's also a vampire fic, so it's also pretty dark and twisted. Oddly enough, my OC admits straight off the bat that she wants to get married so she can have someone to sack, but I haven't even gotten close to writing anything even hinting they actually do yet. And I'm 30 chapters in.

I use one character in multiple stories, however she is always paired off with the exact same canon. I love her so much, she's probably the only Oc I have an indepth about, so I like giving her different plots to work through ^^

So true. Those people make my characters Luther, Riley, and Alexa look bad. And if someone makes an OC x Canon chara couple, it needs logic, and a story explaining how they met and stuff. A story where the canon chara acts likw his/her self.

Personally I like OCxCanon that shows the relationship forming (ie: how they get to be in love etc) and adds something to their characterization.
I wanna know how your OC and the character get from point A to point B , not what they do once they get there.

I agree. For me and my fandom, plot is a little difficult. But that doesn't mean you should make exceptions for your OC. Just... act like they're always been there if it's a fandom where you can do that. Otherwise, make it believable.
As for the OCxCanonxCanon thing, again needs a good reason than "Oh I can't decide!" There are people who aren't totally monogamous, but it all depends on the presentation. But yes, to people who don't know about polyamorous folks, she (and it's always she) will be looked down on. :/

I don't mind if a person has more than once OC for a fandom..but it appears lazy and unoriginal if someone has one fan character paired with multiple canon characters from a single fandom. And usually, that one OC is almost always a persona of the creator, making it look even more pathetic.
I do like what you said about the difficulty of a fandom, though. My fandom is very difficult to write for/have a fan character that interacts with the canon characters for and I hate it when I see people just bend that fandom universe's rules for their fan character. =/ It gives other fan character creators and oc/canon people a real bad name.

Totally. I can see what you're saying. I tend to dislike it too but I'm horribly allowing. As long as I'm entertained.
I could see that. There are obvious OCs that are so wrong, in my fandom, that it leads to people ignoring what they say in the author's comments to report a "Mary Sue". (I've had it happen with one of mine and it ruined the blog's credibility in my eyes.)

I enjoy OCxCanon if it's done right. I've paired my Kingdom Hearts OC John with Kairi in one AU story (sequel to a previous story where Sora died protecting her) and with Fang from FF XIII in another KH story. Sex is not the main theme, nor does it really have much of a place at all other than it being implied.

I honestly don't mind well-written fanfics with a sexual theme in one chappie or whatevs. Just so long as they, you know, warn younger readers who obviously shouldn't be reading porn :/ I don't mind the implied stuff either, at least they don't go into detail

I have one Hetalia OCxCanon pairing and it is not based on fangirling and sex. I guess I'm one of the few here on deviantART who don't like the fact, that most people do those pairings without backgroundstory and other stuff.

I really enjoy OCxCanon pairings with background and plot. It always makes them so very interesting to see how the creator weaves the character into an already set storyline x3
But dang, recently all I see is overboard fangirlism

well...I hope the misunderstanding and issue about this will clear up to everyone here on da,,
it would be really bad if all and I mean ALL(even the innocent OC's) will be sued.
