Description Updated and improved.

Its no secret that my Favourite Thunderbird is Thunderbird 1, but I can't deny how iconic Thunderbird 2 is.

Her design looks great from every angle and the pod idea was utter genius, she has a sleekness neither the Movie or the "IR" version quite captured. This is the Thunderbirds TB10 one used in the main and end titles with slight modifications.

Its interesting to note the production team thought that TB1 would be the star vehicle and where surprised about the popularity the slower cargo plane received. Personally though I always thought TB1 was underused as in theory its supposed to be able to handle a lot of rescues by itself.

Also my 100th Deviation apparently, hooray. Does this mean i'm cool, or just desperate for attention?

*Update* For helping out with the Fanderson Pod Vehicle competition, Fanderson very kindly took this to be signed by Gerry. Apparently he quite liked it, I am told he was very i'll at the time but I am honoured he still took the time to sign it.

Wow. Just...wow.

This is beautiful! I love the lighting. And TB2 itself looks really good, as does the boat in the background.
The ocean looks really realistic. You haven't gone overboard with the waves- they look good, and real, which is awesome.

The weather, too, is very awesome, and I think really contributes to the overall atmosphere.
Awesome work!

Fantastic atmosphere in this image! TB2 was always my favourite - still is. The original design can't be beat, in my opinion.

LOL - no not desperate at all.

This is fabulous - I note you use the fonts from the movie yet keep the traditional style of the original - does she look out of place?

Great designs NEVER age - think the Liberator, the Enterprise, and this.

This should have been in the movie - rescuing the amazing instead of blokes off an oilrig.

This is full of drama and excitement, well caught sir!!!

Many thanks that said the oil rig rescue was the best part of TB04, i do agree though it was incredibly mundane.

Yeah, T1 was the fastest & it did show a little of the inside & Scott was cool but Virgil was a cool name for an english boy at the time, the slidey way they got into their seats - similar to Stingray ? but this scene reminds me of the only decent part of that horrid excuse for a Thunderbird live action (the oil rig rescue) then it turned into Spy Kids !! LOL Dont ever ever let a star trek hasbeen direct an anderson creation !!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chrisofedf In reply to DaintyDinah [2011-09-19 08:05:10 +0000 UTC]

I always put the blame for TB04 on the producer, considering what they started with, Frakes did a decent job helming the script back to something that was recognisable to the original show. Sadly though, it had to be a spy-kids competitor and because of that no-one could have saved it.

DaintyDinah In reply to Chrisofedf [2011-09-19 08:23:27 +0000 UTC]

No Frakes was as responsible as anyone else for what could have been a brilliant movie as anyone ! Was a total disgrace to Gerry Andersons creativity & imagination ! (Like Judge Dredd (too many stories at once) or Mad Max 3 - a sacrilidge to the original Australian productions !) If I could redo Thunderbirds (I would) Gerry should have done it - end of ! After all thats what he really wanted to do - live action !

Anyone who knows me well know TB2 is my favorite one. what can i say. and ever since your 2010 fan film i can not get enough of your FAB redisigns. Just out of curiosity, what's the secne here, what's the situation?

Chrisofedf In reply to PilotAaronIzzard [2011-09-19 08:12:36 +0000 UTC]

Cheers.
TB4 has just floated a crashed submarine to the surface using inflatable buoyancy canisters. TB2 Is ready to airlift the sub clear of the stormy weather that has been hampering the normal rescue attempts.

That could make for a grest episode for the new series the Gerry Anderson is working on. Keep up the good work old chap.

Awesome. I love all the details you've done on TB2's design. The green really stands out against the remaining grey.

And I like the accented angle of the shot. Makes everything feel a bit rocked and helps with the danger of the situation. And at the same time, since it's almost of the deck of the nearest ship. It could a photograph some one is taking of the craft (though I don't suppose Virgil would be happy if he found out)

I love dutch angles, my filmmaking class makes fun of me for it but i think they work

Well, if you work in weird angles you got to keep it consistant or make it fit in with what's happenings I suppose. Comic drawing books encourage you to use as dramatic angles to get more tension in there

TB1 always seemed to get to disasters and then all Scott would do is look for strong men to help him with his gear, read into that what you will.

Great work as always!

And cool or desperate for attention... I'll go for cool, just becouse of the fact that you have a whole collection of Gerry Anderson vehicles as 3D models, that's cool enough for me!
