Description
Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia). My model is a permanent resident at a raptor rehabilitation center, and one of my favorite birds.Feel free to download for personal use. Not for photo-manipulation.

Some of these shots make them look EVIL. Y'know? I don't think the creators of legend of the guardians portrayed them correctly. Agreed??

Yes, I really liked the animation in Legend of the Guardians! It was very realistic, but with great use of subtle posture and expression change to convey emotion. They didn't change the fierce/stern shape of an owl face, but the characters didn't always look angry.

You're right. Good point. But when I look at Digger, I think he's a fluffy chickadee or something. I don't know why, exactly. Its also funny to think of the small size of them when they are in those dramatic scenes.

BUOWs are adorable! One of the things I love about owls is how little their skull looks like the feathered shape of their head. The "earless" owls in particular have heads that make me think of floofy puppets--they have the same silhouette from almost every angle. Just a little beak and big eyes attached to an inscrutable form surrounded by feathers.
