Description
Turkey vulture head at different angles/lighting. Turkey vultures being my favorite animal ever, this is the ref I'm most delighted to present to everybody! The majority of the photos are modeled by one female vulture, a permanent resident with a bad shoulder. A few of the photos (particularly the goofier shots) were modeled by a bird I was very fond of, who sadly passed away this year. You can read about him if you like by clicking on the first of the portraits at the bottom of the artist's comments. The second-to-last row features a typical picture of these two together, chummy till the fickle female would abruptly decide her buddy needed to be put back in his place. Never any injuries, but a few feathers were occasionally lostNo need to link back, but I'm always happy to see the drawings people do using my references (especially for this one, since I love vultures). Not for photo-manipulation. More references:

Oops, I forgot to click the allow-download button on this one. Thanks for pointing it out! Though, with my non-professional camera, the pics aren't especially high res (I can't wait till I have money for a semi-decent camera).

Ah, thank you! I would argue, though, that 6x6" pictures are a lot better than dA's shrunken version. :3 Much appreciated, and such a fast reply!

I'd love to see more photos of her feet. Amazing reference! I never noticed the nostril opening went all the way through before!
Course I usually see vultures at quite a bit of a greater distance. They are really shy of people here.

I adore these birds-I've tried so hard to find good references of this species, and in vain.
And here it is! Wonderful job, she did a great job posing for you. XD One of my favorite features of TVs is that nose.

Thank you!! OMG. You do not know how much I love vultures. My fascination began when I found a vulture skull, and I began looking deeper into what they were really like. Most people think of vultures are like, "gross" but, they are actually VERY beautiful!

I KNOW!!!!
thats really super cool, I never realized that! then again I never really had a chance to see birds up close and personal, minus my sister's Cockatiel. I used to wake up with her on my pillow giving me kisses to wake me up because my sister thought it was hilarious.
