This is really helpful!
Just one question...
If I wanted to make bunny ears, would I just make the ear-flaps longer?

clearkid In reply to Honooru [2009-04-01 03:20:19 +0000 UTC]
That's one way, yes.
You can also make the ears separately and sew them onto the seam where the band meets the hat on the inside, after you've finished your hat.

Arg! Sorry to ask, but since I can't print this (no printer) whats the height of the center of the round part in the pattern?
p.s. Thanks somuch for putting this and your hat pattern up! They're awesome!

The thickest part is 4 3/4".
Which is actually more than enough and stretches almost down to the chin, and you can change the size and shape you your liking.
I hope it's useful to you.

I've been making some hats with the rounded ear flaps and it's been so much trial and error to get the shape and size I wanted, lol. Thank you for this tutorial, and also for offering up your basic pattern.

Sewing is a learned skill not a born talent. Don't let the fear of failure stop you from trying.

Awesome. ^^ This could become very useful.
And how would I make ears that stick up?
I was thinking of making a Beelzneef hat. He's Nekozawa's puppet in Ouran Hostclub.
Anyway, yeah. My question. Which is a few lines above.

maybe you could use wire, you can find them in lots of craft shops or go B&Q (or goto a DIY store).
