Description
This is a howto on deleting your registry key for the apophysis program.Disclaimer: I am in no way advising that you go and delete keys from your registry, but for some users this seems to fix an issue that Apophysis is having on some computers. So I uploaded a descriptive explanation on how to delete this ONE key and I want to remind you that you should not delete anything else while you are in your registry. Deleting items from your registry can make your computer one big paper weight! Be very sure you are deleting this one key and only this one key! I will not be responsible for any damage you cause your system from you deleting something you should not have.

Hi, Dave:
I just downloaded Apo 2.08 and have a problem with no progress bar showing when I render a fractal. Is anyone else having this problem and can I fix it somehow? I have re-downloaded the program several times and still have no progress bar. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

the last I heard that was due to a computer system not being updated to the latest updates but I would think being online your system would already be updated.

Hmmm, I am sure I have all the updates. Strange. Well, guess I will just have to be patient while rendering. I like having the progress bar, though, to see how far along the render is. Thanks for answering, Dave. Maybe it will fix itself. Take care.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Infinitely easier than I expected it to be. I held off on fixing it for a long time until I saw this.

Very useful. My Apo's all work beautifully (except for the pesky z-plugin crashes), but I had been noticing some were having a problem, so good to know how to fix these things.
Registry can be a scary thing to fiddle with if you don't know what you are doing. This has clarified an otherwise blurrrr area.

I still haven't had time to install the new Apo 2.08 and wonder now after seeing this instruction whether 2.02 is no longer required. Sofar I just had added the exe of a new version into the folder of 2.02. If 2.08 is a stand alone exe could I not leave 2.02 as it is as I still like to work with some older z versions occasionally which I presume depend on 2.02 and install 2.08 in a separate folder?

2.08 still needs the hqi.exe and the .dll files within the apophysis folder.

Thank you. I have it in the same folder now as 2.02exe and it works without errors but the settings for gradient under option get's screwed up and need to be reset again often and also the variations checked under option - variations get kicked out all the time and need to be reset again too. I wish apo 2.07 would work still.

The programmers put in an invalid registry call or something like that and so they need to recompile the program to fix it. They are working on it . It seems to only affect some systems but not all. I don't have any issues with 2.08 at all.

Huh, it's fine for me too. Does it just not work on some systems?

some systems seem to have fits. I don't know why as of yet. other than what little I told you of.

I think it was good especially for people who have never touched the registry...
And your disclaimers are exceptional...
Cause doing stuff in there can kill the computer..
and you did it well
