Words Below:
It was a bright sunny day at a crowded beach. Most of the people there were having a good time. None of them suspected what was coming. It swooped down from the sky creating a large shadow and a loud noise.
The people screamed. Everyone got out of the water and all of them, even those on land, attempted to flee to safety. They just hoped they were selected to be its victim. Most of them got into their cars and drove to safety leaving the unfortunate few behind.
Melvin had parked in a more distant parking lot with a smaller parking fee. He was one of those who would have to run down the beach. It followed them. It was tired of flying and in no hurry.
After watching the runners, it selected its victim. Melvin was the one that it picked. Despite increasing his speed, he knew he was doomed. It was only a matter of time.
Mel felt himself split in two and then split in two again. There were four of them running side by side along the beach but only one of them actually had consciousness. Mel hoped it would go for one of the decoys but that was not to be. It was going after him.
As Mel continued to accelerate, the bikini became more restrictive. Mel did not think that sounded right. She had not been wearing a bikini earlier. It might have been one of the strange effects of what followed.
The false images faded and Melody continued to run. She seemed to be actually increasing her distance from it. Was it just toying with her? Had it selected another victim? The latter must have been the case. That was the only explanation she could think of that made sense.
At last Melody reached the parking lot. The hot pavement burned her feet but she did not have time for niceties. She had to get out of there. She ran to her car, fumbled with the key chain that happened to be in her hand, and unlocked the door.
Once inside, she looked around to see if anyone else had been selected by it. Seeing no one she drove off. There was nothing else she could do.
Melvin woke up. It was all just a dream. He was amazed that he had actually dreamt he was a girl, even if the circumstances were less than desirable. If it came again ... Melody would probably run again. Even a sunny day at the beach had its flaws.
