Scout was playing Schoolgirl Wars, the latest game from Virtual Worlds Unlimited. His character was a female student at the all girl school known as West Valkyrie High. When he joined the game, the students from their rival school East Valkyrie High, also an all girls school, had just launched an assault. Scout's team was attempting to gun them down before they reached their territory.

Virtual reality gave Scout the sensations of being in a female body. Perhaps they did too good a job because Scout was having trouble focusing on the task at hand. Many of the East High girls were gunned down but those who made it received a bonus. They quickly took advantage of the bonus by shooting down all the West High girls in the area, including Scout.

Scout felt a slight tingle where his virtual body was shot. This was followed by a feeling of floating in midair as the scenery switched to the respawn location. Scout realized they needed to strategize, otherwise they would just get gunned down again. When he spoke, he sounded just like a schoolgirl.

"We need to come up with a better way to -" he began before being cut off by one of his teammates running towards them.

"They have reached the school!" she warned. "Take cover!"

Scout took cover as instructed. Since the people playing the other girls could either be guys or actual girls, he would just use she unless specifically told otherwise. Again he made the newbie mistake of letting himself get distracted by such thoughts and found himself gunned down again.

The girls from East High had almost reached the respawn territory. However, the defensive weapons in that area were very powerful. Once the bonus they received for their assault ran out, they found themselves overpowered.

Scout knew he could not do what he did before. He tried to use stealth and ducked down into the trenches where he was less likely to be noticed. Crawling on the ground, he passed the midpoint and reached a location where he could observe the outside of the other school. Using his communicator, he informed his team how many people he saw and what they were doing.

Then Scout noticed the dirt on his uniform. He was upset about how his once clean uniform no longer looked nice. This caused him to notice how much like a stereotypical schoolgirl he was acting. In the middle of a life and death battle, he was worried about dirt on his uniform. Once again he got shot. This time it was in the back of the head so he did not even see who did it.

Gradually, Scout realized these female sensations had been intentionally designed to distract him from the fighting. The only way to succeed was to actually use these sensations to his advantage. Later, he saw an enemy approaching the school, he gunned her down. It was his first kill.

Despite his improvement, Scout's character was killed several more times before the game ended. His team lost. It was not even close. Even so, Scout knew he could improve. He thought he would eventually accumulate more kills than deaths but that would require both practice and time.
