I do not have flash, but the step by step (and notes on in-between frames) was very helpful. I am doing all the images in a drawing program and putting them in a GIF maker. I'm just starting out so I don't want to buy an expensive program before finding out some basic (and what I enjoy). Thanks for the help

Okay, so I'm super new to Flash (though I've attempted to animate sprites with it years ago). I found your tutorial and decided I'd make something similar to your blinking frog...I made a blinking Chocobo from Final Fantasy! The only problem I'm having right now is that I cannot preview the animation by pressing the play button on the animation window. I can hit "ctrl+enter" and the animation loops just fine, but I can't get it to work on the stage.
This is what I did: I converted the drawing into a "symbol" then edited the symbol as a "movie clip" to make the blinking animation, made the blinking eyes (4 frames). I messed with the amount of frames until the blinking acted the way I wanted it to (total of 31 frames).

Idk. If you're using Adobe Flash, well, there outta be problems, if its another animation program that somebody named ThisDarkLight (aka Scoot) uses to create his Zelda Unknown Origins series.

Try Adobe Flash CS4, or the latest version, if you think its alright (haha, yeah, takes a while to master), then you should consider buying it (about, over 200-300 dollars I think).
