What is with all these nightmarish aliens coming out of the genetic scrambler I may or may not have in my basement? Note to self, stop mixing Ectonurite DNA with Corrodium and other random samples you find lying around the lab just to see what'll pop out . . . anyway, for those that are getting tired of all the nightmarish aliens I've been making as of late, fear not (oy. Puns)! After this nasty bugger, there'll be one more before I call it quits . . . at least until Halloween

Anyway, this here is a redesign of YakkoWarner20 's alien, Nightmare, whom I offered to take a crack at. Hope ya like!

Onto the facts!

Name: Nightmare

Species: Solebatperculan

Homeworld: Non-existent

Powers/abilities: Nightmare has near absolute control over all powers of darkness, specifically umbrakinesis, and can bend the shadows to do his bidding. He is able to create shadow minions or mindless drones that attack and move across the two-dimensional realm, thus making them nearly impossible to fight back against.

Solebatperculan's are a magic-based species that know all types of dark spells and enchantments to help them in combat, though they are only able to learn these exact types.

Nightmare is capable of firing off energy blasts of dark light and erecting shields and protective domes of the same material.

The blades on a Solebatperculan's arms are very strong and nearly indestructable and are coated in a special kind of poison that stimulates fear into a victim's brain, rendering them literally paralyzed with fright as the Solebatperculan feeds on them while they're still alive and kicking.

Nightmare becomes even stronger in total darkness and gains fear-related abilities that make him appear as someone's worst fear. Even when seen by a crowd of people in complete darkness, each person will only see Nightmare as their worst fear and this in turn makes Nightmare even stronger.

Solebatperculans have no need to breath as they do not possess a respiratory system like most carbon-based life forms and can thus survive quite easily out in the vacuum of space.

Nightmare is capable of flight.

Weaknesses: Despite being surprisingly fast and agile, Nightmare is very fragile and is easily defeated by stronger species like Appoplexians and Vaxasaurians that managed to gain a hit on him.

Solebatperculans absolute detest sunlight and will immediately burst into flame if they are struck by the rays of any light brighter than that of the dark stars they prefer. Unlike Ectonurites however, they can not be reanimated time and time again from the dead and once burned to death, are gone for good.

The longer Ben stays as Nightmare, the more sadistic he becomes, relishing the feeling of his opponents feeling pain and taking things to extreme. In short, his attacks will become more lethal and far more deadly as he tries to actually kill his enemies; thus far, only the Omnitrix timing out as saved Nightmare from completely taking over.

Trivia: Nightmare bares a striking resemblance to Nocturne from League of Legends, as well as Pitch from Rise of the Guardians and Hades from Disney's Hercules. All three characters are associated with darkness and fear, much like Nightmare is.

Solebatperculans are created when Celestialsapiens experience true fear, such as looking at Toepick's face, and are born when the personalities of the Celestialsapien agree to expel the fear right out of them (which happens almost immediately after the incident). This makes Solebatperculans a very rare as well as very spiteful species. Longing for a place to call their own, they wander the universe in search of its darkest corners as they prefer absolute darkness whenever they can find it; however, they can be found gathering around dark stars and are surprisingly unaffected by them given their aversion to illumination.

There has never been a record of a 'good' Solebatperculans as the entire population (which is far less than that of the average population of a sentient life form) consider any other life to a be a blight upon the universe, with the exception of the Anur System and its inhabitants despite the fact that they can not go there on most occasions for fear of being destroyed by the system's sun, Anur.

When first encountered by Galvan astronomers, they were thought to be a sub-species of Galvanic Mechamorph.

Azmuth has been working on creating a planet for the Solebatperculans to call their own, as well as creating a fully functioning food chain to sustain them and keep their numbers in check. However, the process is somewhat slow as contact with a good majority of the species is quite difficult as they can't venture into the Galvan system and no place in the universe seems dark enough for them to permanently call residence.
