Description
This here is another Ben 10 Omnitrix alien OC that I created for leonardovincent 's mini-competition . The rules are basically to draw an original character based on either sci-fi or Japanese historical origin and, as you later find out, I managed to accomplish both. Round of applause to me and all that stuffOnto the facts! I bet you're all wondering who this fella is, aren't ya!
Name: Thunderdrum
Species: Caeruvian
Homeworld: Aa Rasheen
Powers/abilities: Thunderdrum skin and sent of cloud-like gills allow him to breath in moist environments and release large quantities of pressurized and heated water into the atmosphere, forming storm clouds as a result and thus giving him limited control over the weather. The more water he releases, the bigger and more destructive the storm is.
The large orbs on Thunderdrum's shoulders and knees are filled with helium and, when combined with his hollow yet sturdy skeletal structure, allow him to rise and fall as he pleases, granting him flight capabilities. A far more destructive use is to use his massive girth against opponents, body slamming them from on high without warning.
Thunderdrum has enhanced strength, enough to effectively demolish brick and concrete with ease. Caeruvians normally their strength to beat their massive bellies like drums, creating thunderous roars that sound like rolling thunder that often herald the storms they create.
Caeruvians are made of a non-conductive substance similar to that of rubber and can thus be struck by lighting and other electrical sources without feeling any pain. They are capable of redirecting it however, though this takes much practice and skill and years of training, something Ben most likely doesn't have the patience for.
Weaknesses: Despite his massive strength, Thunderdrum's skin is highly sensitive delicate on any other part of his body except his hands. This means he is reliant on water to keep breathing through his skin and gills and must stay hydrated if being used for long periods of time.
Caeruvians do not communicate verbally, despite having a mouth hidden beneath their gills, and thus communicate through hand gestures and low frequency rumbles and roars that sound similar to thunder. This makes communication between Thunderdrum and allies somewhat difficult in stressful situations.
Thunderdrum is not fast on the ground and must resort to floating to get between places at a faster rate. Even so, he isn't as fast as other flying aliens as Lepidopterrans, Aerophibians, or members of Astrodacytl's species, thus making him a somewhat easy target when in the air.
Trivia: The species name derives from the Japanese word "Kaeru", which means 'frog'. Likewise, the Caeruvian homeworld comes from the Japanese word "Arashi", which means 'storm'.
Thunderdrum's appearance powers draw inspiration from the Japanese god, Raijin, the God of Thunder. Other inspirations include the Pokemon Toxicroak, Frogadier, Greninja, and Snorlax.
Thunderdrum's clothing is similar to that of Thunder and Lightning from Teen Titans.
Thunderdrum shares his name with a species of aquatic dragon from the How to Train your Dragon franchise. On a related note, a working name for Thunderdrum was 'Rage-in', alluding to his comparative appearance to the aforementioned Japanese God of Thunder.
The similarities between Raijin and the Caeruvians isn't of pure coincidence. Back in the days of feudal Japan, a lone Caeruvian that had fled his homeworld - after being deemed a criminal and wanted in seven different star systems for destruction to property and loss of life through misuse of his abilities - fled to Earth and took up residence in the high mountains of Japan. From there he would torture humans with his threat of terrible storms, gobbling up any children that strayed outside when he was working his craft and destroying crops and burning a symbol into the ground that would later inspire the tomoe wherever he went. Eventually however, he was found, captured, and taken back to his homeworld for punishment, leaving the natives to create the god Raijin to explain his presence.
Aa Rasheen is a planet covered mostly by a warm, global ocean with small clusters of islands and a massive super continent for land. Thanks to this unique arrangement, severe storms are constantly battering the coast lines and creating massive hurricanes and tsunamis that considering nothing more than an everyday occurrence; these wild weather patterns, are in fact what drove the Caeruvian to evolve their storm-manipulation in the first place. This further allowed them to regularly irrigate the vast, central desert of the main continent to the point where it has been transformed into a lush grassland.
Caeruvian society is led by a single emperor above a large parliament of advisers and subordinates.

Hypothetically what would an Ultimate version of this form be like?

This alien makes me wish we’d gotten some “Thor” type aliens in Ben 10. Like, Aliens that inspire human mythology like this one or Thor.

Well, Grandpa Max did say that a lot of cryptids/mythological creatures were actually inspired by Earthling's encounters with extraterrestrial life (except Bigfoot, apparently), but given how The Secret Saturdays had been tentatively confirmed into exist in the same universe as Ben 10 (before being confirmed in Omniverse), maybe they wanted to keep extraterrestrial and mythological aspects of the show as far apart as possible so that the characters wouldn't encroach on one another's territory (again, why Ben never gets an Anodyte transformation/form).

I came up with a. AU were the idea was that Anodites are beings from the reality of legerdomain with the ability to naturally manipulate mana, an energy that can manipulate the matter and energy of the universe. They came to earth millennia ago and mated with the human population. Since Anodites had the ability to manipulate mana naturally, their descendants would have the ability to manipulate too. Rifts to their reality occasionally open, releasing creatures like dragons and giants.

That's certainly interesting, but it kind of makes Earth feel like it has nothing to offer and that if anything strange, bizarre, or dangerous is going to happen, it's going to be from outside interference, so to speak. It's been shown that dragons are, in fact, an extraterrestrial species (and, according to 5YL, have established a small colony on Earth that gave rise to the dragon myth) and giants could just be another alien species that ancient humans mistook for over-sized humans (like a To'kustar, for instance), but I could see other creatures being from Ledgerdomain, like vampires, rock elementals, and even zombies (that is to say, like Darkstar, if an Anodite drains a person of their life force, they become an actual zombie that seeks out the life force of other organisms in order to regain its life, despite the fact that it doesn't work).

This is a very creative and cool alien, both in inspiration and execution; this would've been a nigh-perfect way to add weather manipulation to Ben's ever-growing arsenal of powers(seriously, there were a lot of other powers that they still haven't used, yet)...

Thanks! That really means a lot coming from you!
While it is true that there are a near infinite amount of possibilities of powers and aliens for Ben to gain, I can kinda see why the writers and creators kind of faltered a bit around Omniverse. All the more well-known powers and abilities were already taken by one or two aliens (such as Echo Echo and Ditto's shared duplication) so they kinda used the same powers but sent them out in different forms with different advantages and disadvantages (like Feedback and Buzzshock). It's kinda too bad that they aren't allowed to take aliens from fans like us (with some sort of compensation, of course) and use them in show because there a lot of really cool ones on this site that would make awesome additions to the Omnitrix.

No problem; I honestly would've prefered seeing this guy be added to the omnitrix rather than guys like Molestache, Walkatruout, and/or The Worst... or just OV's version(s) of Toepick and Atomix.
And that's why you try to make the new powers look cool, like they did with Cannonbolt, Upchuck, and Spitter(it's been proven that it's not exactly "difficult" to do).

True, but I thought (at least in my opinion) that Mole-Stache had a fairly decent power, it just could have been executed differently. That being said, not all the aliens in the Omnitrix are supposed to have epically cool powers. Remember back during the original series how Ben kept mistakenly transforming into Grey Matter instead of the incredible strong and fast aliens or how he thought Cannonbolt was useless/ didn't have any cool powers until he figured out that literally rolling with it was the best shot? Besides, human DNA is in the Omnitrix as well (Ben is the genetic donor, per say) and we don't have any significant powers compared to a Kinecelerans speed or a Tetramand's strength; sure we can run long distances, are more powerful in numbers, and are greatly adaptable to many situations, but we're not all that useful.
I thought Atomix's OV appearance was alright (granted, it could be less robotic or how you and several artists reworked it into being a containment suit like NRG), but Toepick definetly didn't live up to his name/reputation. I don't think "gross" and "scary" mean the same thing. That, or Toepick's face is so disgusting it's horrifying? Dunno about that one.
