I agree that this was one of the best episodes in the series and the songs were nice (I really liked Applebloom's singing in this one), but I'm a little disappointed that they all got the same cutie marks and with how the cutie marks look in general. The marks don't really fit any of them and I feel like all three of them had different talents indicated (i.e. Sweetie Belle's singing, Scootaloo's scooter and Applebloom seemed pretty good at building/fixing things) The idea that the cmc go around helping other fillies get marks is great, but I think they should have gotten cutie marks because of their talents and then decided to help others get their marks as well just because they wanted to.

I think the cutie marks did highlight their individual talents - one has a musical note on it etc.

Let me just...
WOW. That was awesome.
This episode is one I would desperately urge anybody who has strayed away from the show to watch immediately, alongside Amending Fences. But this one especially, as it finally delivers brilliant character development. Reading the initial synopsis of the episode would leave you to believe it would end up being a regular episode, but it was so much more than that.
Here, we have everything that Magical Mystery Cure should have been. The musical songs are amazing here, and it serves to forward the plot, while at the same time avoiding the cliche of being a montage.
The highlight here by far is the character development. Going into this episode and knowing that Diamond Tiara was gonna be in it, I was really hoping they would do something different to her. Diamond Tiara has always been a very unlikable character, but we actually see why this is. We actually see why Diamond Tiara acts the way she does, and you can legitimately see her struggling on a tug-of-war between what her choices throughout the course of this episode should be. I was absolutely shocked when I saw the Crusaders actually getting their cutie marks. And just how they got them makes the revelation that much more powerful. Between this and Amending Fences, I'm completely torn.
Please, writers, make this last! From reading the synopses of upcoming episodes, we should be getting more episodes with the former Crusaders. Hopefully, it will involve them helping other ponies find out who they can be. It appears that just like the Mane 6, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are going to be put into situations where they can use their identities to help other ponies as well.
If Season 5 continues to deliver episodes as amazing as this one, then it will most certainly end up being one of the best seasons overall. I loved this episode to bits, and I hope to see more characters moving forward as well (Fluttershy needs it so badly).

I liked almost everything except the cutie marks.
They just look bleh. Perhaps I'll grow used to them someday.

I never expected a musical that worked so much better than Magical Mystery Cure. The songs were well written and gave good impressions. Now granted there were some generic moments here and there but the end result I did not expect. And now the question is, what is next for the CMC? They have their cutie marks sure but now what? I guess it's just a matter of exploring the world more and with their true talent discovered, they gotta live up to it.
Finally, some character for Diamond Tiara. Does her song make me sympathize with her situation? It didn't at first but now she is a much better person but who knows how long until her old habits kick in.
It's funny that this episode happened on MLP FIM's 5th anniversary. But I think it was the best way to celebrate it.

What's with all the weird tags (like Gilda and Cadance)?
Anyway, the final moment of the episode, where Photo Finish takes the picture, and Spike sends it to the princesses shows that this wasn't just "let's reform Diamond Tiara because we're reforming villains left and right this season".
I also thought this was going to use a certain fandom cliche, but instead, it's Diamond Tiara reforming instead of Silver Spoon. Refreshing.
As for how good the episode was, probably somewhere around the 6-8/10 mark (I can't translate that well to letter grades).

Definitely one of the best episodes of the whole series. So full of music and so full of feelings, I actually almost cried all the time. Diamond Tiara's ballad was so touching. Since it had to happen someday that she is losing, it is so hard for her to be under her mother's thumb.
I was always worried that when the CMC get their cutie marks it's the last episode, so I'm glad it isn't! I think they couldn't have done a better episode for the 5th anniversary.

There was a lot to enjoy between the catchy musicals in midst the episode and such but I honestly would have to say my favorite scene was the VERY second Applebloom said they should spend their time trying to help others figure out the meaning of their cutie marks, instead of trying to earn their own. It was a genius callback to that Troubleshoes episode as well as them helping find Diamond Tiara's cutie mark meaning. And when they got their cutie marks as all the same sheild yet different in meaning-- it was effin PERFECT. I guess it kinda eternalized the "Cutie Mark Crusader's" club which was something I was afraid would end entirely as soon as they all got their cute marks. But nope! Instead the Cutie Mark Crusaders have a new meaning to their club! That's pretty damn cool imo

We waited five years just to have the CMC get the same cutie mark, I don't understand that? This was clearly a fandom episode. And why is it when Hasbro has to do something big for the show they have to completely change an unlikable character around just for people to appreciate the episode more? What are they trying to do?
Was it a good move to change Diamond Tiara? It might've been, but I think it was all done too fast. I actually liked the songs (which I normally don't) but they could've taken out one song and it would've been absolutely perfect. That's one thing you don't clarify in your review, the pacing.
I enjoyed the episode, but there could've been just a little tweaking to make it A+ material for me. It's an A for me, but no plus.

Character development is something the writers always seem to get wrong. There's never a progress, it always has to happen in one episode, typically within the last 3 minutes or so.

Okay, at first before I watch the episode, I was thinking its going to be just another ordinary CMC episode like others from previous episode.......but.....after watching this episode, I was ...................................speechless D:................IN AN AWESOME WAY XDDDD. This episode had blew my mind as well as many bronies who have already comment and made vids about this like Toonkriticy2k and lightningbliss. Is was no wonder why I couldn't find any preview vids of this episode, this episode was worth to wait with no spoilers. It had great music, great character development of many of the characters, and great story line within 20 minutes of the show. Overall, its got to be one of the best CMC episodes ever and Season 5 is showing potential of being one of the best season of the show so far if the writers continue making great episode like this one and many other episode before in this season XD.
