I personally didn't see a sex toy in that pillow. Yes it was very dakikamura. But unlike other dakikamuras, Daring is just tied up. Completely. Like a prisoner. There is nothing sexually attractive about that image.

I don't know, I saw a lot of body pillows done by artists with Very suggestive poses, or something just outright NSFW. I could only assume it's for fetish purposes. Not fetish shaming but... The fact that these exist, and that the creators of MLP decided to add them into the show. Plus, the character's reaction to it. Dash look's at Quibble questioningly while Quibble just shrugs it off as if saying "It's a fandom thing" 
Maybe it's telling kids that there are things in the fandom they will not understand but to just ignore it and move on because stuff like that happens.

Why do body pillows have to be considered so sexual. you can just sleep and cuddle next to it. That fucking cute, you don't have to fuck a pillow. I hate people sometimes.
Also the "women just being tied up to serve men's fantasies" is why I can't stand vanillas when they try to act like they know a gaddamned thing about BDSM. It's the subs fantasy to be tied up. It's the doms fantasy to fulfill their sub, not the other way around.

I gotta admit, that was kind of over the top. MLP has an air of innocence that makes it appropriate for small children to watch, and I found the pillows funny as hell but that's really just not MLP's style. Although, most children wouldn't pick up on these kinds of jokes, so I suppose it isn't a terrible offense but still

The body pillow joke was a bit too front-and-center to not garner angry letters from trigger moms. After all, they got angry mom letters because of one character named "Derpy". There was also a second body pillow gag in that episode that was a little more blink-and-you'll-miss-it, and also funnier in my opinion since it was one of the villain's henchmen carrying it. I get that the show has adult humor hidden throughout to appeal to their parent and Brony demographic, cartoons have been doing that since I was a kid. Animaniacs was riddled with clever adult humor. But even I felt that the body pillow joke was just daring someone to get offended over it.
