So the very awesome skyrore1999 and I had a random chat about fishes and somehow on the way ended up doing an art trade.
I just had to give a try to drawing Milo, he's such an adorable character.And to make things interesting I decided to get him meet some of my fishes.
Kron would be dead curious about Milo. The bigger fishpeople are rare and mostly extinct, so finding out about someone like Milo would definitely be within his interest.
No clue what they are talking about though, but Milo's tolerance for spiky sarcasm might be trialed.
Raze would naturally be rather suspicious and keep her distance. Kron is the first larger fish she has ever met
and Milo is like twice his size ... yea Raze might be poisonous but she's not taking any risks of getting eaten.

The coloring is fantastic in this pic! The blending is nice and smooth, and i love how you rendered certain details, like the rocks, and the big guy's side muscles (or are those his gills?) The lighting might not be 100% accurate though, as the big guy's face looks brightly lit, even though he's turned away from the light. Another place where i feel the lighting doesn't make sense, is that blue sheen one Kron's tail (the large part, not the tip, that part is fine). Since he's somewhat behind Milo, some of that blue highlight would not reach him as Milo would be blocking it. But i think that's the only discrepancy i have when it comes to the shading.
My favorite thing about this pic are the character interactions. Their expressions and body language just tell you what kind of personality they might possess, even before you read the description in the artist comments. The way Kron just circles around someone twice his size with a cocky smile implies that he's might be a daredevil that doesn't look before he leaps. Can't quite tell if Milo is bashfully flattered or nervously trying to humour this shark guy looking him over. And then there's the little one down in the corner, looking cautious, which is funny, cuz the big guy looks rather gentle. Although, considering the type of fish she resembles, i'm assuming she's suppose to be rather small? Here she looks like she's the same size as Kron, but if she actually isn't, then maybe it would be better if she was either made bigger, to give a sense that she's a small fish hanging way back away from Milo, OR if her entire body was visible so you could see how big she actually is.
And that is the end of my comment. Not much i could give advice on, but i hope that the little i did comment on is helpful to you. You've done a great job and keep up the good work

Raze here is in the similar scale than Kron - though she is a smaller fish in her regular size.
Didn't want to make her too small or she would have gotten lost in the picture completely being so small.

I really love the scale use you went with here. I have been meaning to put him alongside other merpeople, but I've hesitated because his story is that he's a mute, so he can't communicate with other merpeople, and thus finding some to interact with is hard. (lowkey I want to draw Kron and Razor now...) I can't say how much I love his hair, you actually manage to do something I struggle with which is render hair with lineart in a way where neither are hindered, and I've always envied that about your style.
I can't tell you how much this drawing means to me in general. I've admired your work ever since I joined DA, almost 6 years ago. And to think I could ever trade with you is really an honor, and I couldn't be happier. You were, and are my role model. I hope my half was a fair trade, and you did get something good out of it. Thank you for this!

Oh he's mute ... that's an interesting fact
First I figured I would have wanted to draw him fullbody - but then Kron and Raze would both look ridiculously tiny on canvas, so this kind of a setting worked better.
I imagine they spotted Milo hiding somewhere and decided to take a closer look and now Kron is circling around Milo and Raze just watches (and probably comments) from afar XD
Contrast is the secret ;D if the coloring isn't contrasted enough the lineart will show through quite strong, but with a little edge and darker shadows it'll blend in nicely.

I'm happy you enjoy this picture too - I had such fun drawing it and I feel like I finally got some of my coloring flow back! So thank you as well
