Description
Hello everyone, this is my first DA premium content item. The Legacy to Gen3 morph converter 1.1.
Edit: The Morph converter has been updated to version 1.1. Morph accuracy from V4 to Genesis3 has been improved. This update should also fix most of the teeth problems.
I advice to use the latest version. The content has also been updated with an improved clone.
Purpose of the morphing tool:
The morphing tool can convert morphs made for Daz Victoria 4 or Genesis 2 to Genesis3 exporting from and importing into Daz Studio.
It supports V4 poser morph export and Daz Studio import for Genesis 3. Genes 2 poser morph export is not supported.
What is included:
The package includes some content for Daz Studio 4.8 and higher. Six base morphs for the Victoria 4 morphs and the Genesis 2 morphs.
There are separate morphs for the head and the body as well now. So you can use e.g. a V4 head morph with Gen2 body morphs on your Genesis 3 female figure. Isn't that cool
And the morphing application itself. It has been created with Visual Studio 2010, so you will net .NET Framework 4 to run it. You will need Windows 7 or higher to run it. It will work for 32bit and 64bit windows versions.
It is easy to use and has been thoroughly beta tested.
How to use the morphing tool:
Part1: Morph export using V4 or Genesis2 in Daz Studio
1) Open Daz studio and load Victoria4/Genesis2
2) Select V4/Gen2 and in parameter tab, Zero figure
3) Make sure mesh smoothing ist set to off and resolution level is set to base
4) Dial in the V4/Gen2 morph(s)s you want to transfer to Gen3
5) In File menu, select export and use file type "obj"
6) Specify a filename and save the file to the input folder of this application
7) Chose convert to "DAZ Studio" and export obj with the settings you can see when you click the "display obj export settings" button
8) Repeat the steps 2 to 7 for as many morphs as you like
Part2: Morph conversion (that is what this tool is all about)
1) Depending on the source and the figure, select the appropriate option in the morphing tool
2) Use the "convert "obj" ..." button below this text to convert the morph(s) to Genesis3
Part3: Importing the morph back into Daz Studio and using it on Genesis3
1) Open Daz studio and load Genesis3
2) Select Gen3 and in parameter tab, Zero figure
3) Make sure mesh smoothing ist set to off and set the resolution level to base
4) In Edit menu, use: -> Figure -> Morph Loader pro
5) In the Morph loader Window set from: "Daz Studio", Load Morphs for: "Primary Selection (Vertex Only)", use button "display morph loader settings" for a screenshot
6) Use the "Choose Morph Files" Button and select the desired files in the output folder of the morpher tool
7) Hit Accept
8) You can find the morphs under "Morphs/Morph Loader" on your Gen3 figure
If you are using e.g. a V4 head morph on your Genesis 3 figure and want a look like of the V4 version, you need to use the "Victoria 4 head (base)" from the provided content set to 100%
in addition to your imported morph which you also need to set to 100%. And that's it. Same for body morphs. You can mix and match any way you like
How much does it cost and how can I get it?
The application and the content as a package costs 2400 DA points or 25 USD (paypal).
Option 1: You can either buy it through DA using the premium content link on the right. If you are using this option, you have to rename the application extension from .exe_ to .exe (sorry about that, but da does not allow .exe uploads)
Option 2: You can get it using paypal. Send me a note in DA providing your paypal data and I will send you a request for payment.
When I receive the payment, I will send you a link to download the application+content.
Additional information for beta testers:
There will be discount for better testers who provided feedback. The discount is only available through option 2. I hope this works for you.
If you are a beta tester, just add the info to the note you send me (just to make sure I don't forget the discount).
Important information concerning the content: You need to delete the old content from the beta to avoid problems.
To do that, delete the following folder inside your content library:

Am I correct that you cannot save the new morph as a character/shape preset or am I simply doing something wrong.
To give the details, I successfully load a V4 head morph/shape onto G3F (works great), then save as Character, also tried saving as shape preset with the same result. But when I load it again I have to go through the second part of the process each time (morph loader pro etc). am I missing something?
Also, in a converted V4 head the uvula is distended and the front teeth are warped. Any fix for this?
Ok, found a way to save the morph, just the teeth and Uvula to go, lol.

Great you figured it out yourself.
For all the others, saving a morph works the same way as saving any other morph you created using deformers or obj file import.
The teeth problem should be fixed with the new version 1.1 I just uploaded. Please give it a try

Kind of a weird question but can you do backwards conversions with this (I.E. G3 to G2?).
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
darkhound1 In reply to zeitgeist1234 [2016-11-29 22:32:19 +0000 UTC]
Right now, no. Only G3 as target is supported. It should be possible to add that, but would make the program a lot more complicated.
You do not like Gen3 or at least you prefer Gen2 over Gen3? Or why do you ask?

I'm trying to finish legacy projects in Gen 2 before fully jumping over and some of the new Gen 3 morphs look interesting. More of a "that'd be neat" than a necessity.

Ok, thanks for the info. So I guess I won't "waste" any time on the backwards conversion.

Select the gen3 figure and check the parameters tab. Then you can find it in the general section. You can use google if you have questions like that.

You need a windows pc to run the converter. You can use daz studio on a mac, export obj file, run the converteron a windows pc. Use the converted obj file on your mac.
There won't be a mac version for the converter itself, sorry.

Thanks for help and support

You only need my exe file on the windows PC. You do not need daz studio on the windows PC.
For the obj file export, follow the instructions until point 8)
Instead of the specified folder, copy the file e.g. to an USB drive and then back to your windows PC, or email it to your windows PC.
Copy the obj file(s) onto your windows pc into the "input" folder of the application.
Part2 of the instructions is done on your windows PC
Copy all the obj files from the "output" folder of the application on your windows pc to the usb drive or mail it to your mac.
Part 3 is on your mac. Follow the instructions. Fort point 6) use the converted file from your usb drive or your email.

One last question from 8) Repeat the steps 2 to 7 for as many morphs as you like I have to do this once for HEAD and once for Body?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
darkhound1 In reply to maukzone [2016-11-18 20:00:20 +0000 UTC]
My suggestion is to do a seperate head and body morph if possible, although you can aldo do just one morph for head + body. It is up to you.

akizz In reply to ??? [2016-10-23 06:28:14 +0000 UTC]
For those of you thinking that this will convert every morph of your figure to g3. It only does half of it. It only convert the morph on the body. If you apply some morphs to the arms, it will not convert it. Personally the $25 is too high for something that only did half of it.

darkhound1 In reply to akizz [2016-10-23 07:49:12 +0000 UTC]
I am sorry, that you are not happy with the converter. It works well for more than 100 people by now.
What you are saying is not true. It does convert the arms. It will not convert the hands and feet, but honestly this is only a very minor shortcoming which is not a restriction at all in 99% of the cases/figures.
If you say that the tires are half of your car, well I guess that is about equally true.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
akizz In reply to darkhound1 [2016-10-23 08:09:23 +0000 UTC]
Yes it works for more than 100 people. It also doesn't work for a few people. I'm telling my experience so people will have a better understanding of what they will get. Well the arms doesn't work for me. Since you decided it's not necessary to tell the shortcoming, I'm doing the favor here.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
darkhound1 In reply to akizz [2016-10-23 08:24:19 +0000 UTC]
I can only say it again, the arms are working, only the hands are not. This is the same for everybody, since the morpher works the same for everybody.
It is also the same for you. Only most of the people do not care that the hands are not converted or they probably did not even notice it.
So you are one of the view that need hand morphs and for you they are half of the necessary morphing. If you see it like that, I won't argue against you seeing it like that.
For claws or clawed hands/feet: yes it is a problem. For any normal V4 or Gen2 figure there is no problem.

akizz In reply to darkhound1 [2016-10-23 08:39:05 +0000 UTC]
One more thing. Since I used the custom morph slider that you gave me, each time I apply the converted figure shape all the other figures inside the scene become distorted. I've stopped using it now.
