This time on custom brushes in SAI! <3 I love custom brushes. It was getting so long that I tourniquet'd my custom brush settings off of it >.> But if anyone sees a brush exampled up there that you'd like, just ask and I'll copy the stats for you ENGLISH SAI: [link]

NOTE: This deviation is a little outdated. You can now download "DarlingMionette's SAI Resources" at the bottom of the Custom Brush Supplement.
It is a .zip file of all my brush settings, textures, blank do-it-yourself resources, instructions for creating custom content, and associated start-sai.exe file that lets you register these files to your SAI without editing the .conf files manually :3 All in one convenient place. All of my current brush settings have been updated to match the files in the .zip file, and contain image examples for each. Be sure to read the README's! If you like it, then drop me a +fav on this deviation

Where do I go to find the 'do it yourself'?
Because (i have windows 7), I opened my files under the SAI download, and the do-it-yourself is missing?
I installed it from the systemax website, and I purchased it.... but i cant find itttttt

some versions of the program don't have it, but if you check my download there in the description, it has a copy of the folder and it's contents :3

Hi, well I copied and pasted the brushes and textures all in the correct folders.. then ran start-sai.exe, and the textures aren't showing up? I know I have to make the brushes my self but the textures aren't there for some reason.

make sure you put the start-sai.exe in your main directory before running it, and try a reboot. they -should- show up in your texture menus (paper textures, brush textures, brush shapes) if you put them in correctly. the brushes themselves have to be manually inputted if you read the README.

Mayhaps you can help me. I'm still confused. Or mayhaps I'm a dunce and just didn't get it... :/ But I downloaded the file and copied all the files to where they should be... i think... yet I don't have the brushes to use... Am I missing something? o.o

it's okay, apparently i wasn't very clear, because i've been asked a lot. you have to manually enter the brushes themselves into the program (the textures etc are registered automatically after you put them in their folders and run the start-sai.exe) to do so, right click on your brushes menu, create a new brush type, and then copy the settings given in the screenshots (in the custom brushes folder i provided) to recreate them :3

Thank you so much for both this tutorial and the Custom Brush Supplement one. I just now downloaded your Sai Resource zip file, and plan on working my way through it as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your explanations in all of it, I really appreciate how much this helped me understand the program and how to customize it, seeing that I've not gotten to far into doing so.

thank you for this. i was looking around for some brushes for quite some time but didnt know where to look oAo But then i found this and i downloaded it. Im gonna try installing the brushes and such, but if i cant ah well >.> i gave it a try. If i finish a work using your brushes, i'll be sure to credit you back at least once so people will know i got brushes from you!

I cannottt ever thank you enough! I was missing some brushes and to make things even more annoying, most of my things like the paper textures brush textures etc. had strange names and I could not tell what was what. But this was so clear and helpful, and now I can even make my own brushes. I just replaced the misnamed files with yours and everything was perfect. :3 I'm so grateful to you!

Hey, downloaded your pack and was playing around with your brushes, just selecting different textures when suddenly my brush tool stopped working. Has this happened to you? I didn't fiddle with anything and I've been using the program for a few years now and this has never happened to me, any idea why?

no idea o.O i've never heard of that happening, does it not put out any color at all? or is the program frozen..? does the cursor not move? more info would help XD

It's fixed, I had to uninstall the program and reinstall it and then readd your stuff.
I honestly have no sweet clue why that happened o.0, I thought maybe someone else might have had issues since it happened after I installed your textures.
Either way, reinstalled it and went through each one and it didn't happen again. It was weird because it only happened to the brush tool while every other tool worked fine (and I checked the transparency button too. Who the heck knows)
That issue aside, it's a great set up and thanks so much for making it. It's so hard to find things for SAI

some versions came with it, some don't. if you download the english patch, i'm fairly certain it'll have the missing files :3

I'm having a problem with a lot of the brush textures.
I've put them in the brushtex folder, started sai with start-sai.exe, and they show up under the drop down menu.
The problem is they're just applying the texture. Any idea what's been done wrong?

well.. they are textures.. they're supposed to just apply the texture. maybe i don't understand your problem?

I meant they're just not applying the texture. It's the same as if I had chose (no texture) under the drop menu.

ahh.. ive had that problem too with other textures. my best suggestion is to double check and make sure you put them int he correct folders, and restart your sai.
