Description Wheeeeeee another tutorial This time on custom brushes in SAI! <3 I love custom brushes. It was getting so long that I tourniquet'd my custom brush settings off of it >.> But if anyone sees a brush exampled up there that you'd like, just ask and I'll copy the stats for you

ENGLISH SAI: [link]
Official Website: [link]

SAI costs approximately $56 USD (5250 Japanese Yen) for a license. Trials last 31 days. Check the exchange rates on your currency - they change daily so it can fluctuate up and down.

[link] <- Custom Brush Suppliment Tutorial. Has all my brush settings.

===========================================
NOTE: This deviation is a little outdated. You can now download "DarlingMionette's SAI Resources" at the bottom of the Custom Brush Supplement.

It is a .zip file of all my brush settings, textures, blank do-it-yourself resources, instructions for creating custom content, and associated start-sai.exe file that lets you register these files to your SAI without editing the .conf files manually :3 All in one convenient place. All of my current brush settings have been updated to match the files in the .zip file, and contain image examples for each. Be sure to read the README's! If you like it, then drop me a +fav on this deviation . Thanks!

What happens if you use gray?

DarlingMionette In reply to supermariodiscovery [2013-10-25 16:27:54 +0000 UTC]

when you make the brush? sometimes the program won't recognize the gray so it'll end up leaving your new brush completely blank when you try to use it.

Oh so does that mean if i use the gray it will tottaly turn blank?

DarlingMionette In reply to supermariodiscovery [2013-10-26 14:08:47 +0000 UTC]

usually yes, but not always. sai is very finicky and sometimes it does random things. most of the time though, yes, a grayscale brush will show up blank in the program

you know on the minimum density the lines becomes thinner towards the end? Is that only possible with a tablet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

hamtro1 In reply to NightGlitch [2013-09-23 01:31:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes you can use the lineart layer and then use pressure to make it thinner on the ends

Where do you find the do-it-yourself and SAI folders and stuff?Β  Not the actual thing, just where you save the brushes and such.

simlatte In reply to ??? [2013-08-18 21:51:40 +0000 UTC]

I've always wondered and google doesn't seem to give me a clear answer...but with SAI, is it possible to download new brushes? If so, how and where?Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 3

DarlingMionette In reply to simlatte [2013-08-19 01:03:35 +0000 UTC]

yes, sort of. you can download the settings/textures for new brushes, but you have to make them manually. I have some brushes available in my tutorials section of my gallery under "custom brush supplement"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to ya2chan [2013-08-15 13:59:17 +0000 UTC]

... there are files with the extension .conf in your sai directory. it stands for configuration.

I Downloaded You Brushes! And They Were AWESOME!! I Saw Some Cute BrushTex Floating On Da.. And I Think I got The Old Version Of SAI so I Need To Do The NotePad Method...But The Thing Is,Her/His Zip File Doesnt Have The Text I Need To Write On The NotePad..I Dont Know What To Do D: How Can I Know The Text I need To Write On The NotePad To Activate It?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

DarlingMionette In reply to ChameleonGirl-Andrea [2013-08-12 02:57:55 +0000 UTC]

The format is pretty straight forward make sure the brush texture is put in the appropriate brushtex folder, then open brushtex.conf and add a line to the end that looks like this:

1,brushtex\newtexture.bmp

where "newtexture.bmp" is the filename of the texture. then save and close. that's it!

I cant get my paint tool to change the size of my pen depending on the pressure

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to LotyWereFox [2013-08-09 02:10:07 +0000 UTC]

do you have a tablet? because a tablet is required to have pressure sensitivity. if you do have one, then you probably need to update the drivers ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LotyWereFox In reply to DarlingMionette [2013-08-09 02:29:26 +0000 UTC]

thats the thing, i got my tablet YEARS ago, and I don't know where i cud update the driversΒ

google is your friend most tablets have a product number / information on a sticker (usually on the underside of the tablet) run a google search for the drivers

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to kanotoy96 [2013-07-28 03:57:05 +0000 UTC]

No, there is no video for the installation. The readme is the best instructions, they're very thorough and clear, but if you don't understand any part of it or are having difficulties, just ask I know how to solve anything. I get several comments a day from people who have problems, so don't hesitate to ask
