This tutorial is very helpful, thank you
But I still don't know how I can set the whole lineart thin on this pen-pressure option I have a tablet, but the strokes look like they were drawn with my mouse, and not with the tablet?
Might you tell me where I can set those optoins? Tha would be awesome!
Thank you ~ :/

DarlingMionette In reply to AnaghaBloodpaw [2012-03-03 15:52:27 +0000 UTC]

you are most welcome :3 - for the lineart thinness.. it depends on your tool. if you're using the pen - then the pen pressure is a factor and you may need to check your drivers if it isn't working... if you're using the line or curve tool, then you need to actually go back and edit the width of the line points by hand with the "pressure" tool available in the line-art layer tools. Right click an edit point on the light, hold, and pull your mouse left or right to adjust the width.

You shouldn't need to set the pressure of your strokes in sai, it does it automatically.

I feel so awful for asking this, but, how do you get your lines so smooth like that?

I've had my tablet for about three years, and I've been through every tutorial I can find, but none explain how to make my lines smooth like that. Mine are always pixel-ly and I don't know what to do.

Thank you so much if you can help me out with that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to CharlieShay [2012-01-14 17:04:31 +0000 UTC]

in sai it's just automatic XD i use the lineart-tools and the associated layer - it's vector, so it works really well for smooth lines without too much pixeling :3

CharlieShay In reply to DarlingMionette [2012-01-14 17:43:33 +0000 UTC]

Hm.. I don't understand whats wrong with mine then. haha. It looks like the lines you get in paint.net or something. xD

I must also thank you for teaching me about all the other things in that box. I had no idea how to work some of those tools....

Aaaaw,so I need a tablet to do that kind of lineart with the pen tool

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to DesuShitfaceMcNigger [2011-12-27 15:23:28 +0000 UTC]

XD BUT you don't need a tablet to do that lineart with the line curve/line tools :3 only if you want to do freehand lineart (I hardly use my pen at all for lineart :3)

how do u get the colors in that color box thing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarlingMionette In reply to peppermintcandymanic [2011-12-26 17:08:42 +0000 UTC]

XD actually that's just my palette. you can right-click on your empty (white) palette boxes and hit "Set (s)" to set the color to whatever your currently picked color was ^^ then just left click any of the boxes to set your current color to match your palette. You can also use the color picker tool (looks like an eye-dropper right under the palette box) to grab any color from an image you have open in the window.

Wow, I used to use SAI a lot for inking and such, but I honestly had no idea what I was doing and just switched to the normal pen tool in the ordinary layers for lineart x3 Thanks to the tutorial though, I now know what half of the tools are! Thanyou so much for making this <3

above your layer list there are 10 buttons, you want the second one. it looks like a piece of paper with a pen nib over it - click it and it'll create a new lineart layer :3
