Description Rocket doing teen angst...oh joy.
Thankfully you won't get much of this from Rocket, she tends to be very sunny. I was going to jump ahead with the plot, but I suddenly realised that I should slow down a second and give Rocket a bit more introduction (otherwise she'd swamp you with info later). I stuck to a very simple style for this, just because I wanted to get the info across quickly and neatly, and the more gentle pencil sketchy style fitted the mood better than the usual bold and cheerful looking inking and copics.
I actually like how the drawing came out in this strip. Somebody please give that girl a hug!

...I can't believe I'm almost at ten pages! Woo! Go me!

i can relate to her situation. i spent the weekend away from home last week to join a football tournament. so anyway, i was there but never got to play as i was the youngest in the team. grrr. sad, really. anyway... keep 'em coming... the soliloque did a lot to bring the story forward.

Thanks! Even thought people can't really relate to being knights and having magic powers and stuff, I try to make the emotions ones that people can understand. Even if you know you probably wouldn't be of much use, being left behind while everybody else takes care of things really does leave you feeling useless.
I'm working on the next page right now.

Tools? Let's see... I do my comics on a drawing board (it's a plastic one that you can clip the paper onto that has a long clip-on slidable ruler). I draw all the laybout with pencil, then ink it with a handwriting pen (any decent black pen apart from a ballpoint will work fine for layout inking). The drawing board's clip-on ruler lets me keep all the boxes at nice right angles. In the older comics I would draw and ink the speech bubbles by hand, but I like the new style better and so I add them all last using Adobe Photoshop. The fonts come from a great site:

For the actual drawing, I start with a pencil (a 0.5mm HB refillable mechanical pencil). I might then draw and shade the whole thing with that pencil (like on the latest page, very Megatokyo looking because Piro draws with the same kind of pencil). Or I'll then ink using a 0.5mm fineliner pen (I also have a 0.3mm, but I use it less) and rub the pencil out. Shading and patterns I do in mutiple ways. Sometimes I just hatch using the fineliner, more often I block shade with copic markers (I only own four because they're expensive, and they're all greytones!) and if I want a more textured look, like close-ups on fabric or hair, I use pencil again over the top of the copic tone.
For the coloured comic, I didn't ink, I just took the pencil drawings to photoshop and used lots of partially transparent layers for the colouring so the lines were still visible.
Hope that's helpful.

I like how you work with shadings. Think IΒ΄ll try it out when I have time. IΒ΄m to broke to have lots of pens lying around at home... donΒ΄t even have a proper pencil to sketch with now. But I live in the worst town there is, where "all" pencil-and-stuff-shops are closed down. I should buy some when I have the chance here in Stockholm, when I visit my fiancee. But IΒ΄m going home in 1,5 hours so next time maybe.

sorry for my swenglish - but I cant write (or think) properly right now. ;/

Give her a break, she's fourteen!
Besides which, if she was a male character and she said that, you'd be her biggest fan knowing you.

Generally I assume you're being sarcastic until proven otherwise

Yep. It's Shakespeare's answer to 'how to get a lot of info across in a short period of time'! Have your character speak to themself! ...Hope there isn't too much text for one page.
