Description
A character design I did for an RPG I'd love to make in RPG maker when I get the time. Musco is an interesting character because s/he is purposefully drawn to look rather neutral, gender-wise, and also to have a very generic RPG hero look, while still being a recognisable character.The game would be named 'Legend of Something'. A spoofy RPG in which a Princess and her hardassed guardian/handmaiden, Scarlet are treated to a rather spur of the moment rescue by the romanticist hero-wannabe, Musco. The princess thinks Musco is a gorgeous bishounen, but Scarlet is convinced Musco must be female.
The rest of the game involves an Elf summoner named Random, who summons sprites from...well, just anything that's ever been a sprite, from the X-men to the cast of Bleach to Super Mario, and spoofs of pretty much every RPG and RPG cliche you can think of.
I've included the sprite I made to match the character on this one. It's not an RTP sprite, I used a set of Japanese sprites I really like as a base for this. The sprite template is the same one being used on the STG project. A game I'm in on the creation of, but can't post any work from because it's all top secret, hahaha.

hahahaha, thanks, but I think you need to have been in an actual game to be in the SSB games, as opposed to being a drawing by me that's over a year old ^_^;

Nice, clean character design I especially like the pants and shoes, although somehow the tattered edges of the cloak don't really match with them
I think you could take it a step further and more of those 'sports-ish' designs to the rest of his outfit, but that's just an idea.

I was mostly just going for a very simple look that combines contemporary with fantastic. The trousers weren't really intended to look sporty, it was really just supposed to look like a very gender and setting neutral costume. I have a thing for tattered cloaks....I just think they look cool. Kind of like the thing I have about frock coats haha.

Thanks! Clothing design is one of my favourite aspects, especially with fantasy stuff. It's a lot of fun.

haha. One of the characters I'm making has to look more generic than Musco, man, the design for him is really hard! I suppose Musco would need more belts and bare arms to look more generic really, it's a pretty simple design. I did the hairstyle generic, but in a more unusual dirty blonde colour. You don't get many heroes or heroines with haircolours like dirty blonde or mousey brown (except Yuna of course) I never do strawberry blonde characters though, I always worry it'd make them a Mary Sue because my hair is that colour! hahaha.

i tried using rpg maker, it was rather annoying though so i got RPG toolkit. lol. havenβt made anything yet, but eventually i shall.
with your description of this hero, Iβm not even sure anymore if it's a he or a she... might have misread a he as a she though. hmm... anyways, looks pretty wicked, his hair makes me think cloud lol.

You're supposed to be unsure if it's a he or a she. It's one of the most important things about the character.

nice, ive made a few RPG 2M sets and games, its a real pain in the ass to get them imported into the database though

Yeah, you can't just put them in the folder like the music, you have to import them all manually and make sure the transparencies are all right. I'm prud of this one though, it's practically drawn from scratch. I'm very pleased with that hair, haha.

Yeah, sure. My Gmail is darthmongoose@gmail.com
I'm not great at the programming side, but I'm good at critquing games from the perspective of a person who plays a lot of RPGs, new and old, and also as an artist and a literature student. I also have lots of resources and know resource sites, so I can probably be pretty helpful.

No problem, just make it put up some kind of message when I get to the end (or gimme some kind of a walkthrough). If I come across things like spelling errors or bits of code that are awry, I might be able to fix them, or note them for you too.
