Since she was the winner of my little competition, Aoikiwi got to ask for a finished and coloured picture of whatever she liked. She wanted to see how Kuchiki Rukia from Bleach would look in my style.My style probably isn't the best for drawing Rukia, since I tend towards drawing sturdy, muscular girls by default (which is kind of strange I guess since I'm actually rather petite myself) wheras Rukia is a small and delicate looking girl (she's one of the only full grown characters I can name who's actually smaller than me, I think she's about 4'9" or something. Tatsuki is 5'1" like me).
So uh, anyway, I decided to draw a battle ready Rukia. Not sure why I did her in uniform really, mainly because hakama are so damned hard to draw in action poses (and that's coming from a girl who OWNS a shinigami hakama bought in Japan!). I think the stance came out a little butch looking, but other than that I quite like this image. Lots of fun going totally overboard on the effects hahahaha.
I'll upload the line art to my scraps later.

As for the uniform, Rukia seems to be wearing it half the time anyways, plus she's one of the few (female) characters who actually fights in a school uniform at all. Anyways, I think the lighter gray clothes was a good choice-- the better to see your signature awesome lineart, after all. ^_^ Ohyeah, I love her pose. A little butch for everyday use, perhaps, but not when you're getting ready to kick some arrancar's tail end, as she evidently is. : P
Heehee... I like the crazy effects, too. They're fun to look at.

Haha, glad you like it! I think the butchness of the stance would be realistic if she was about to fight something, maybe doesn't work so well in a one-off shot? The effects were mostly trying to fill in something that was missing from the piece. In fact, it still feels like there's something missing, but adding a street as a BG didn't fix things, so I think maybe just the composition is lacking a certain something.
