Description
Sorry to disappoint anyone, but we probably won't be seeing the Lava Reef. Well, maybe I'll find a way to put it in later, but for now it may have to wait for another comic. This story is going to take place in the Great Forest, this time, and here's where things really begin.Ouch. I wasn't sure if I was going to do oil or blood pooling around Bunnie's leg there, but the sadistic bastard side of me said blood was the better option. She's obviously hurting.
Years ago, SatAM fans wrote alot of fanfiction that included that raccoon there, Bookshire Draftwood. I had asked permission to use him, but Dave Pistone seems to have fallen off the face of the planet. Either way, back in the day the character was passed around almost as free property, and I believe there's documentation allowing writers and artists to use him so long as it's within the realm of being in-character for him to appear. Either way, in this continuity, Bookshire is my choice for physician over Dr.Quack. Don't call it a comeback?

Don't know if anyone cares anymore but Bookshire (David) Is still around. He just hasn't done any writing in years sadly. Maybe someday. Who knows when he might show up again some day.

Wow wow wow, Bookshire is infamous... he actually got MSTED. I haven't read many of the old SatAM fanfiction, but some stuff I've read it's ok. Although your art does the story more justice.
I love the layout, panelling, and color palette you've used. I also like the camera angles and you didn't use too much text. It's good. Really good.

Oh my god...you know, people used Bookshire for so many fanfics, but to see him in comic form like this...it's just incredible to me...It's amazing what one finds doing a Google search for their fan-name.
Hi, the writer formerly known as David Pistone, aka Bookshire Draftwood here. Don't believe me, check out the website. You can call me either Book or Serin, I don't mind which.
You know, I never ever imagined that I'd ever see my original fanfic character in this medium. it's a wonderful depiction, and I'm really, really flattered you selected me, er, Bookshire, over Dr. Quack.
You're a wonderful artist and I certainly encourage you to continue use of the character in this or other comics as you require.
BTW, to others who weren't sure...yes, PackBell and Sandra Nightweaver are also mine. The reason I suspect Bookshire shot to stardom the way he did was, 1, he was THE FIRST fan character in Sonic fanfic (way back in 1994), and 2, he was unassuming and easily played the background/support role instead of the hero.

Was that character in the cartoon? I don't remember him.
I just wonder how Bunnie would be in pain and how her robotic leg could bleed. ._. I always thought the roboticization went all the way through, so it'd just be a lot of circuits and wires and stuff in there. But I guess it's possible there could still be some organic tissue in there. Guess you never know.

Bookshire. Oh my GODS, that's way back in the early days before all the fanaticism started!
First I ever heard of him was through Daniel J. Drazen's fanfictions. I still have the links to a hub which hosts all those stories still. It's SO GOOD as an oldskooler fan to see the characters return to their beginning stages. Bunnie before Archie's 'year later' getup and hair, Sally looking like she was taken straight out of SatAM...this is an oldskool fan's DREAM, hon!
*now wants to draw Bookshire*
And I love the friendship/sisterly bond between Sally and Bunnie - in Archie it was somehow lost amongst the whole coupledom factor and I missed seeing it so much, especially after the whole "Sonic was gone" issues. I don't mind Horatio Quentyn Quack as much. It so has to do with his first name though XD I love Horatio as a name. It sounds so formal to me X3
And yay for the scenery change, now we get to see what's going down with the Freedom Fighters.
*eagerly awaiting more!*

Well, if you think about it logically, Bunnie's mechanical limbs would have to have blood pumping through them; any type of machine oil running through her would be toxic to the organic portions of her body. Hydraulic fluid might be probable... but that's diving too deep into the issue.
There is one point of critique I'd like to make: I don't think you should have outlined the pool in bright red. I feel the darker shade outlined by the brighter line is a bit confusing and makes the viewer question as to what kind of puddle it really is. When I first saw the image, I had to process for a few seconds on whether that was blood or mech fluid.
Heheh, and speaking of fan-fiction, I gotta admit, the hug between Bunnie and Sally in the last panel reminded me a few Sonic Lemons I read back in the day featuring the two. Ahh to be young and have access to literary porn on the internet, those were the days.

Interesting...you seem to have had the same idea I had. Bunnie's legs and her left arm are bionic so they're robotic and organic at the same time...well, at least that's how I intended to do on my long lost fanfic.

Bookshire never dies, it seems. Next thing you know, you'll be writing Pachbell in too. Well, no matter.
I can see your reasoning for there being blood, which is to visualize and accentuate the fact that Bunnie is in pain, however given the corrosive properties of blood on contact with most forms of metal (and vice versa) it would not be wise to have vacillation occurring through such a far removed limb. In other words, consider why blood would be routed to a section of that body which, in all likelihood, no longer requires the transmission of oxygen, much less then any of the other more complex functions relating to homeostatis.
Of course, we do not know the exact working principles behind Bunnie’s cybernetic limbs (they seem like traditional mechanization on the outside, rather than a biomimetic prostesis), so I can not nitpick with absolute certainty. Perhaps she has an artificial kidney/dialysis machine in there, as her natural kidneys were destroyed due to roboticization?
(notices no one cares) OH. Well. Good work and all.

Bookshire and Pac Bell are two 'legends' in the Sonic fandom world. David Pistone is likely gone now somewhere but his legacy lives on but these two characters that always seem to pop up in any fancomic or fanfiction. I'm still a bit clueless as to -how- they got so popular but maybe it's best I don't ask since it's great to see the guy like he is :^)

I can't tell you what a joy this page has been to see! It's fan manga in its truest form, true to the charecters and memory of things past in ways I only wish was more widespread! Seeing bunnie this way, in her original look, without all the bravado to 'emphasis her southern nature'. Isn't her accent enough after all without giving her Indiana Jones wardrobe? Its good to see things this way again, and I'll prouidly add this page to my favorites to attest to what a fan comic truely is!
