Description
In tribute to Brian Jacques, author of "the Tales of Redwall" series - recently passed away this year.
An addition to the Great Hall Tapestry, in celebration of the life of a great man. The Recorder of Redwall now holds a place of honour beside Martin the Warrior, the very Spirit of Redwall.

(Incidentally, Martin did turn out larger in the image than I intended - but I decided to leave it this way. It's an artist's impression on a tapestry, so I guess it need not be to scale.
Also, the canvas texture is a Photoshop effect - the rest is my own work though)

Redwall has always been one of my favorite series of books. I will miss finding new ones at the library (I have read them all). I had always wanted to meet Brian Jacques, but now that dream has gone

Yeah, they were a great series. Yet so hard to find in the shops of late... (I had to order mine from Amazon)

;( I started reading his books about the time he died. Then I learned he died a few weeks ago when I chanced to look on his website. No more books from him, sadly. Went crazy

No necromancers in my cast, really... I do have a wizard character who wants to take over the world, but he doesn't touch the dark stuff - he's not evil enough...

Heh, nah - he's more the elemental type, with fire and lightning and blasts of hard wind shooting from his fingertips!
And he can use those powers either for his own selfish ambitions, or to fight against a greater evil. (When it comes to taking sides, he'd assist his brother Danbuster against a worse enemy than himself)

I love his books and the fact he lived a very giving life always helping others out. I didn't know he died and I'm sad to hear it. He was a great man and the worlds better for knowing him!

I just hoe he didn't suffer during it. I remember when my dad had one i was scared out of my fur (Hence Skin) I mean if he was in a coma there could be luck but just *splat!* Gone from us forever... Is one of his sons taking up his position? I cant live without another redwall book at my paws (Hence hands)

If one of his sons does keep the series going, though, I hope he might take it in a new direction - introducing something other than the usual "generic villain besieges Redwall" formula...

Yeah... 'cos the newer books have been really samey of late - all respect due, of course.
I've often thought it would be a nice change to let Redwall move with the times and develop, say... basic gunpowder!

Hmmmm i actually like how it is but your right it needs to be pushed a little to our date They dont really have metal do they? One of the characters could develop a gun yet its a bit dangerous bc the dibblins could get into it

In the old days, gunpowder was only used for fireworks and explosives for engineering/quarrying...
