if it's a .pmd model, you just import it or drag it into pmd editor
if it's .pmx, you need pmx editor.

This doesn't seem to work for me...
I'm trying to change a shirt color. It's a dark yellow and I wanted to change it to white. I tried this and even made the diffuse, specular, and ambient all white. All it did was make the shirt a lighter yellow. I tried a texture but it doesn't work, and the texture is in the same folder as the model. I don't know what else to do...

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to BAYBAY841 [2017-01-03 19:10:33 +0000 UTC]

make sure the texture that you want isn't yellow itself because those color boxes will only change the hue of what's the texture file displays. After that, check both the toons the model uses for that particular shirt and the toons used in general for the pmde/ model (it's a tab on the main program) it's possible the toon is slightly yellow.

do you know how to add textures when they are in a different folder?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to MissLittleSilvia [2016-02-20 02:21:35 +0000 UTC]

well i recommend making copies and putting it in the same folder because pmd has issues with long name directories, but if you really wanted to redirect to a folder, you'd have to put the folder's name like foldername/texture.png or something to that extent

It wont let me separate the eyes to change them

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to CaramellDancenGirl [2014-01-02 02:50:49 +0000 UTC]

Mmm pmd editor isn't perfect and I remember coming across that issue, probably from too many vectors.

Try instead if you are still putting parts together, drag the main body to the extended part instead of usually dragging the extra part to the main body

Then try separating the eyes again

When I recolored it the part turned white

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to Votakugurl [2013-09-09 22:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Make sure the texture file is in the same location as your pmd model

When I changed the eye textures it became white, what do I do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to mpandainsilk [2013-09-07 13:42:54 +0000 UTC]

That's probably because the texture isn't in the same location as your saved pmd file, move all textures that go to the model into the same folder

Toadawsome66 [2013-07-16 03:37:08 +0000 UTC]

Um there was some random red text above the texture when I typed it in . . .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to Toadawsome66 [2013-07-16 17:53:14 +0000 UTC]

the name is too long, try calling it something under 5 letters not including the extension

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Toadawsome66 In reply to DEN2NeruAkita [2013-07-17 03:05:40 +0000 UTC]

Well eventually I found out that it meant it was too much for MMD but if you kept the name of the texture that part of the model would turn white

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to Toadawsome66 [2013-07-17 19:56:06 +0000 UTC]

might want to make sure all the files are within the same folder.

Excuse me, but may I ask a question?
I'm fairly new to PMD editor, but I know some of the basics. It's just when a try to load part (ex. clothes, shoes, etc.) they're all white. Do you know how to resolve this?
(Sorry for my bad grammar, English is not my mother tongue.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to illuminatedLights [2013-05-21 16:27:38 +0000 UTC]

sure!

make sure the texture file is in the folder you saved the model in.
Make sure the name of the texture is short like tex.bmp and contains the type of file it is .bmp/.png etc.

How do you make textures?? Can you just put a random photo in??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to SparkySama [2013-02-06 19:25:39 +0000 UTC]

you can make texture with any program that's like paint.
You can and the file needs to be in the same folder as the model.

JOJImmd In reply to DEN2NeruAkita [2012-12-25 12:41:14 +0000 UTC]

Well umm i've followed all the steps selecting the part of clothes
what i wanted to edit, then i've separated it with ctrl+S then the Edit->V->blahblah UV blahblahblah .... and then i opened the UV tab but nothing moves whatever I do ... the texture just isn't resizing/stretching or moving T_T

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DEN2NeruAkita In reply to JOJImmd [2012-12-25 17:29:35 +0000 UTC]

that's strange. O u O your steps are correct, although that seperation step is only if there's something on the layer you don't want to change or give texture to. Did the texture at least reset when you reset the UV?

are your settings reset to the default settings? All i can think of is it has something to do with the texture, name of the file xxx.bmp, or you dis selected/unclicked off the material before using the uv box.

JOJImmd In reply to DEN2NeruAkita [2012-12-25 18:49:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes i've wanted to train texturing so i just downloaded some plaid texture and wanted to put it on the skirt,so i've made the top screen white and the third was darker as you said, and then it was just purple, and after i made the UV thing the plaid texture was there but i couldn't do anything with it ....

First of all, watch you language, I am not swearing like you are.
Second of all, why should i help you if you're not going to even ask? I detest people who are just empty barrels.
Third of all, either you have to reset the texture to edit the pic or the picture's not there. If you swear about it's not working, then you have no patience with this program, don't come crying to me about it.
