Description Wow, I'm so productive all of a sudden! 8D

Okay, this isn't so much of a tutorial as a process demonstration... BUT I added little descriptions under each step so you know what's going on... I think you probably need to have a pretty good handle on photoshop to understand this. Or you atleast have to have looked at my other tutorial . But yeah.. I think the process would be pretty intuitive if you know how to get around PS. If you don't, I'm sorry. But you'll get there :3 In the meantime, here's how I do things!

I made this image a while ago but I couldn't figure out how I wanted to organize the tutorial... it's a long story.

My tools:
-Photoshop CS2 (but it doesn't matter)
-Wacom Cintiq (any tablet will do. Even a mouse if you're patient, I suppose )

!! He's okay. Yes, I agree... he's cool and stuff 'cause well... he's the avatar. But.. he's no stud XD he doesn't have hair, though, so I didn't have to color it cB -snk- Haaaa... ANYWAY! Thank you X3

AHAHA!! He's no stud is right (which makes Y!Gallery even scarier when I see fanart of him XD) Less hair is the best XD

Awesome tutorial! Thank you for sharing, I'm hoping I could do something like this soon with vector drawing.

dizzyclown In reply to ikartiko [2008-01-03 14:48:20 +0000 UTC]

thanks! I like this technique 'cause it looks a lot like vector. You'd have to tweak a few things about the process, but it would definitely work :3 Good luck!

oh it will i'll even try it out on my non-digital work (normally i only do impressionism)

dizzyclown In reply to Z33LNR44L [2008-01-06 12:25:04 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, sweet Try it with non digital, you say? Let me know how that works if you do it :3

Z33LNR44L In reply to dizzyclown [2008-01-09 12:58:24 +0000 UTC]

wow! its really hard doing it on non digital work, i had to skip a few numbers and kind of improvise but the work still looks choppy, still trying to perfect it tho

dizzyclown In reply to Z33LNR44L [2008-01-10 15:41:37 +0000 UTC]

hehe, yeah, since it's heavily gradient/masking based, you'll probably need a lot of improvisation. It'd be cool to see it perfected though!

honestly, its allot harder than i thought it'd be, i've done like 3 different methods but they'r all rubbish, tho each ones better than the last, i think i'm close

The tablet you have, that's the one that's a giant screen yeah? If so, I'm disgustingly jealous of you. T_T

You have a strangle hold on those gradients man. I don't think I've seen many other people who use them. At least not in the tutorials they make. I guess it makes shading a lot faster. lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dizzyclown In reply to LostReach [2008-01-02 20:26:36 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, it is

Yeah, I think I'm getting the hang of them X3 I think the process first occured to me when I was looking at some the animal art on DA with my friend. You know, the artists who do the really glossy, colorful pictures of dogs and stuff. But yeah, it certainly speeds things along D:
