well, i had a lot of displacement going on here so that explains the 92 hours. Also, it was rendered with one of the earliest versions of tg2.

definately broke my 60hour render record mate ]

However.. dont wanna be an biatch.. but this render is something you can do in TG 0,9 as well with only very little post work

then again , you know me.. I love big horizons

I love it,it's so so earthly...

I love the mountains in the back and the clouds are just amazing.

But the foreground just seems very out of place here it looks like it was flattened in photoshop and it's... scaley like a snake i suppose you wanted to create some sort of lava flow here?

DKF In reply to zulamun [2008-03-17 11:55:10 +0000 UTC]

nope, just wanted to test some displacement.

Ah, you know it could look pretty cool if it looked a bit black like it's an old lava flow

robo-c [2007-08-29 19:13:44 +0000 UTC]

that renders insane the one im rendering right now is close to 48 hours but its only my first tg2 render so it wont be half as good as that

Superiorgamer [2007-07-24 21:36:52 +0000 UTC]

Dude, you make me depressed lol. I Got tg2 and can't come even close to that... acourse I only have the freebie version
Your work is simply amazing!
Did you use terragen 2 to generate the terrain or did you use a diffrent editor?
In adition, which surface shader did you use to get all the cracks?

overseer [2007-07-12 10:31:42 +0000 UTC]

Looks very cool. I'm still to test out TG2. What CPU was this rendered on? My longest render to date was 36 hours, so I'm quite interested.

T2 rocks, I've been trying hard to get something like this. 92 hours, not up for that after a 60 hour render crashed on me. Excellent depth in the mountains and the cloud cover looks awesome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKF In reply to Aeires [2007-05-16 10:01:18 +0000 UTC]

thank you. Rendering can take long, very long but it also can be worth the wait, provided that your system does not crash

Chromattix [2007-03-02 09:12:11 +0000 UTC]

I always thought TG2 had faster renders ? But I don't have any Terragen or similar programs so I couldn't compare, Lucky the computer didn't overheat.
But I have to say that the clouds grabbed My attention. I too often see grainy clouds in TG2 art which is such a let down but not here !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DKF In reply to Chromattix [2007-03-02 09:56:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, that is one of the reasons it redered so long. A good scene deserves a good render. Although the time this took is 2 long imo

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to DKF [2007-03-03 03:02:07 +0000 UTC]

One more question. I know it can render many cloud types but what about 'Cumulonimbus' clouds ( storms ) which are very large and vertically the biggest type of cloud. I've never seen such a cloud in any TG2 art.
The time was a bit too long, thats days of waiting some small details could be sacrificed to save time but You could end up with an equally impressive peice.

*giggles*
well I lately did one piece that took me more then 120 h to be finished!
I really like that one, especially the modification you did on the terrain looks really nice!

keep it up!

DKF In reply to continentaldrift [2007-02-15 11:39:34 +0000 UTC]

and i thought i was the only nutcase around here to wait that long for a render

You should check it out. Its also a displacement test, but this is w/t he strata and overhangs. I made some sort of a canyon w/ a lot of rocks and stuff, its looking pretty alright.
