the newer versions of photoshop doesnt have imageready! You can get an animation bar in photoshop by pressing "window" in the top bar and then "animation"

Awesome. I've always wanted to know how to make emoticons. One question tho: would Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 work? (I've yet to find all the features you mentioned, so I doubt it... or maybe I'm just not looking correctly...)

C'est super. You've just proven to me that using gradient, instead of colouring manually, does work. I always believed it wouldn't pixelate enough, but it looks great without.

Thank you so much for this! ^^ I've been emoticoning (is that even a word? o-O) for a while but gradient shading is so much easier (and frankly better/more realistic than anything I could pixel xD). Your technique works in PSP too which is good news for me, lol. Thanks again!
