Description October 21, 2011 Prompt: Poison

FULLVIEW PLEASE!

I was sooo waiting for this prompt! XD

Also, I listened to Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" and The Fray's "How to Save a Life" over and over while drawing this.

Oh, and, I actually kept track this time: it took me a bit over six hours on this one, from start to finish. I think I'm getting both better and faster with using my Wacom tablet and Sketchbook Pro. Hmm. This week-long challenge has really been good for my art skills!

Prompt Interpretation:

Considering just how close their makeshift family was now, it was rather amusing for Patty to remember how - at the beginning of their partnership - the three of them just couldn't seem to get along.

Well, Patty, at least, had gotten along fine with both of them. After all, Liz was her awesome Big Sister, and Kid was the nicest, funniest, and bestest adoptive brother a girl could have! So really... it had been Kid and Liz who just couldn't seem to stop fighting with one another. And they would fight about the craziest things!

Kid, in his usual snobby way, kept bossing Liz around, trying to get her to quit drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes and doing the other drugs that she was used to. And Liz, still fresh off the streets of Brooklyn, resented Kid's "meddling in her business," as she called it, and went out of her way to do all of the things he hated, just to make him mad.

All the fighting had been pretty funny, Patty thought with nostalgic fondness, but at the same time, it also made her sad. When Kid had finally forbidden Liz from doing any of her usual "bad things" in Gallows Manor, he had obviously thought it would help her to quit... Instead, Liz had just tossed her head and taken her cigarettes outside to smoke on the front porch.

Patty had watched as Kid stood in the doorway, staring at her big sister in disapproval, and had started to wonder if maybe... Kid actually hated Liz and wished he had never brought the girls home! But then Patty had seen the worry and concern in Kid's golden eyes, and knew that he was just unhappy that Liz insisted on poisoning herself with the drinking and the smoking.

Worse than poisoning her body, though, was the way that Liz's addictions had poisoned her relationship with Kid for so long. Patty was super glad that Liz had finally come around and listened to what Kid had to say. Once she had, their partnership had just grown stronger and stronger, and their family closer and closer!

...And Patty was glad, too, that Liz had given up cigarettes in particular. After all, Kid couldn't stand the smell of tobacco, and if Liz still smoked, then she and Kid would probably not make-out with each other as often as they did now.
