June 15, 2012 Prompt: Sundress

It's a few days late, I know, but my parents' 26th anniversary was on June 15 and I was busy helping them celebrate. I was intrigued by this particular prompt, though, and had already started on the sketch by then, so I hope it counts. ^_^

Prompt Interpretation

In my fan fic On Death and Dying, Liz falls in love with Death the Kid gradually, step-by-step, stuggling all the while with accepting the inevitability of her affection for a being who personifies that most terrifying of things - death.

In the third section, "Bargaining," Kid, Liz, and Patty are about to go on a diplomatic mission to Rio de Janeiro (as pictured in the background). They are all dressed to match, Kid in his white suit and sapphire jabot, and Liz and Patty in white sundresses with sapphire sashes. The romantic tension comes to a head when Kid tells her that "you're perfectly beautiful the way you are."

So this is sort of a tribute to that chapter of the story (and Liz's difficult, strappy heels, ha!). Although it doesn't work out quite so romantically as in this picture - at least, not immediately - I liked the idea of them together in these outfits, fully in love. A sort of "what if", if you will, of how that mission might have gone had Liz accepted the relationship then rather than bargaining with Kid for more time.

This pic has a sort of pieced-together-wallpapery sort of feel, I know, but I kind of like it that way. I wanted some sort of blue background and a quote from that chapter, so... yeah.
