October 20, 2011 Prompt: SkyPrompt Interpretation:
The sky was red over Death City.
Since the Kishin's madness had first begun to spread, Kid had gone out of his way to avoid looking at the ominous hue that enveloped the Earth like a bloody blanket. It stirred a sense of claustrophobia in him that made him want to turn away, put down his guns, and hide. Now, though, he stared up at the red sky unwillingly, hardly able to move.
Kid lay in Liz's arms on the battlefield, his breath shallow and his mind half-delirious as searing pain shot through his damaged body. He could feel the bleeding gashes knit back together even as his Weapons murmured for him to rest a while longer, their souls attempting to sooth his own. If he were in any condition to fight, however, Kid wasn't sure he would actually be able to stand back up. The sky. It was just so red...
The weary Reaper tilted his head to the side, trying to escape the scarlet that filled his vision, and Liz's face flashed into view. He studied her, first tiredly, then searchingly. She was looking away from him, off into the distance where their allies still fought against their innumerable enemies, Patty held at the ready in case she needed to defend them. Dear Liz... dear, sweet, beautiful Liz... She had already saved his life twice in this battle alone, and had received several injuries for her troubles, including a nasty cut on one cheek that Kid was dying to do something about. But her posture was still rigid and alert, her grip on him firm, her face still set in the determined scowl that had once brought Brooklyn to its knees.
It was her eyes, though - those eyes he loved so much - that truly revealed her strength. Her eyes shone with righteous anger, with a loyalty and devotion to him that went far beyond the call of a Weapon's duty to their Meister. Her eyes were a brilliant hue.
They were blue, like the cloudless sky he hadn't seen in so long.
Kid smiled weakly, as hope filled his soul once more. He was ready to fight once more.

Every time I look at this picture (and I look at it quite frequently) I am reminded of Michelangelo's Pietà and it gives me so many feels.
I just, I have a hard time finding the words for such a torrent of emotions but like Revolver, I was overcome with grief when I saw it and read the passage....the poor babies. This is an excellent and dark interpretation of 'Sky' It just gets to me everytime.
(working on commenting/reviewing Eevee things that I have long put off, eeee!)

I love this, though I have to admit I am primarily adding it to my favorites based on the description rather than the artwork itself.

Well, the description is definitely half of my entry for this prompt, so that's totally fine! I'm so glad that you loved it!

when I first saw this image I was immediately overcome in grief.
#1 sign that I am far too into this fandom >_>
But in all seriousness- wonderful emotion. There is, without a doubt a looming gravity of grave circumstance. And I did ever so love your little prose prompt as well.

Girl... you can't be into this fandom too much. THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE. KidLiz (and SE in general) is important stuff, even if it is only important in our hearts and our minds. It's true! ^_^
But, oh, I didn't want to cause you grief! Oh no! *panics* I wasn't trying to make it look like Kid was dead, just injured really bad! But... looking at it now... he does kinda look dead, doesn't he? Oh, dear... That really wasn't my intention. *wilts* But... when Kid gets injured, he reeeeeally gets injured, but then he eventually comes back from it just fine... This just takes place in that in-between time, where he has to be temporarily protected, but I'm sure you know that.
But I'm glad you like it! I had a lot of fun trying to make it look like a real battlefield, all dark and dusty and smokey and, well, grave... I usually draw with bright colors, whether it is intentional or not, so I... well, I kind of looked at some of your war comics to get a bit of a feel for the atmosphere, lol! So, thanks for that. ^_^
