Description I revisited my previous painting of Morraine from Wheel of Time series and made several changes based on feedback I received on the original....thanks a lot to all who took the time to give me pointers on incorrect facts and areas of improvement! I appreciate any and all feedback...including the ones that I may not like as much lol I ended up deciding to make the background a scene in the blight at the end of Eye of the World (Book 1). She should be on a horse too....just assume she is sitting straight up and the horses head is pretty low lol....adding the head of a horse to the miss, which I tried ruin the focus of the painting which is her and the spell. I added several loose strokes to the spell to depict "weaving" . Hope you guys like the changes....I will probably be touching up a bunch of my older paintings for now while I am very busy at work. So expect more redo's.

Here is the before and after for those interested in seeing the changes:

This just got even better! I must agree that detailed backgrounds do add to the painting's depth, making them closer to reality - after all, any world is filled with so much detail! Looks like you're also exploring other hues, toning them down to a more diffused lighting, which is realistic Don't sweat the horses, this looks great even without them.

Thank a lot for the comment! Yes, I am trying very hard to focus on adding backgrounds to all my paintings going forward. They create a story instead of my usual single character portraits. I am also trying to desaturate my colors a lot more....I have noticed that I tend to have an overdose of really bright and saturated colors Β

Lovely! The only tip I would like to offer involves her hands. Their look is acceptable, but I noticed their positions are the same. To ake the movement look more realistic, I would suggest changing up their positions if you ever go back to this, or simply for future reference. Again, this is simply a suggestion ^^ Otherwise this is wonderful!

Thank you very much for the pointers! I did paint one hand and duplicated and flipped it for the other I see what you mean about making her look less rigid with the hands being situated in different positions and forms. I will keep that in mind for next time or if/when I revisit this painting. Thanks once again!!

THE JEWEL *o* No, seriously, the jewel is the prettiest thing I ever saw in my life and totally like it looked like in my head!!!
And the lighthing/shading/whatever-in-art-language-it-is is awesome, especially on dress and cloak! (nose still looks a little funny, but it's like that for everyone who have some source of light under their face xD)
And I love her lips, so full and lucious

Haha....can't possibly be the prettiest thing you have ever seen in your life Thanks a lot for the awesome complement!! Her lips are pretty full and luscious....I didn't even realize I made them that big until now that you are mentioning it O.o

Oh my gawd.. This.. This is just perfect Well done, really
The spell looks awesome with the loose strokes (plus the lighting it creates looks stunning!), and I've got to admit: the newer version of her ring looks so much better! Her dress is way improved too, especially with the contrast of the new (and awesome) background: you can see the decorations quite a lot more clearly (though, that is also due to the lighting )
And her kesiera, I can't even, wow, just wow
Needless to say, I think it's a beautiful artwork of a beautiful character

Wooohooo!! Esley approves lol!

I really enjoyed reading your comment! I am really happy you think this is a much better improvement to the original. I am excited to go back to a bunch of my older paintings and revive them with some much needed love/polishing. The ring has bitten me in the butt more often than I care to admit. I never realized it was a double band overlapping each other at a point until people told me so. Of course the Kesiera....that was just plain oversight on my part lol.Β

This painting still has room for more work when I graduate to the next level Until then

hehe, magical was what I was aiming for Tried to incorporate the idea of weaves into the Saidar since up until now I have only ever painting random circular magic effects. I am glad you like the painting!

Yay! Glad you love it! I tried my best to make the light have an effect on the painting but not steal the focus which was her face. That proved a bit rough lol. Shiney objects seem Β to always steal attentions
