After waking up to find out I won the January term in Pegasus Club on HL, it was my duty to whip up a pegasus layout, and voila!
I briefly hosted a join.me session while making this one - thanks to everyone that attended, I hope you enjoyed watching me tediously spend a solid hour painting the mane! Overall, I'm quite pleased, even though the wing on the other side of the horse is still annoying me. OH WELL.
I wanted to create something beautiful, and something that gave full attention to the pegasus, and I hope I achieved that.
P.S. Guess what? I've decided to be super nice and offer this as a free desktop for you guys! I'll be uploading sizes 1024x768, 1366x768, 1280x800 and 1280x1024 for you to download and use as your desktop wallpaper. Keep an eye on my gallery for these, I'll be uploading them soon!

It only took you and hour to paint that mane?!?! It takes me like 2 or 3 to get it right and it still looks bad xD anywho....GREAT JOB!!! I love it

I find it's all about building up the hair with layers. I use about six or seven layers all up.

Doing different laers would probably help me but because I do all the horse prepping on an xcf file so that when I got to go and I can come bk later its all still in there. But because I copy and paste that whole horse on the background it only moves one layer

Having all your horse prep (the smudging, coat colour adjustments, etc) on one layer is okay, but if you paint hair, try and paint it on a separate layer. At the very least you should have one layer for the horse, one layer for the background, and a few layers for the hair.
I tend to end up with about a hundred layers, which is really too many, that's just my style xD

This is utterly fabulous! The wing is soo well prepped and fits perfectly. how did you get that texture?

I'm glad you like it! To get the wing to match the horse a little more, I duplicated the horse layer and increased the size of this duplicated horse until it covered the wing. I then clipped it to the wing, and changed the blending mode to Color Burn. This gave the wing the texture you see, and it made it match the horse much more.
