Description
Name: Q'porr, Pronunciation: click followed by pop followed by guttural growl)Size: 25'
Diet: carnivore
Sensory pads and tendrils allow this predator to navigate through murky water with ease. Because of the nature of its habitat the Q'porr has relatively small eyes.
Too tired for detailed description and complete sentences.

I posted an article about this creatire on scifiIdeas.com and added a bit more fluff about where the creature lives, and who discovered it. Hope that's okay?! Would welcome your input

I appreciate your enthusiasm about my creature designs, and I don't mind you posting my art on sites like this when you give me credit (which you did, thank you), however in the future if you would like to post my art somewhere or need more information about a creature I designed please note me and ask, I will be more than happy to tell you more. I would like you to edit the post you have made on the site to keep it accurate to the lore of my own projects
The Q'porr is an inhabitant of Skatha, the same planet that the Gapuri live on. Skatha orbits Lliri, the sun. It is the second planet from the sun. The Lliri solar system goes like this.
Lliri (sun)
Hast (terrestrial)
Skatha (terrestrial)
Kuura (terrestrial)
Cheth (jovian)
Kadura (jovian)
L'jk (terrestrial)
The solar system is more just for your reference if you need it.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Sarah

Hi Exobio, thanks for getting in touch. Sorry I didn't ask originally I definitely should have done. I REALLY like your artwork, your creativity absolutely shines through!Β
I'll definitely make some changes to the article I posted.Β
I actually didn't know that you had so much lore about these creatures figured out, if I did I definitely would have asked for more! In fact would you be interested in expressing some of it in another article? The scifiIdeas.com website I write for is created by my brother, and we post interesting things which will be encouraging and inspirational to other scifi writers.Β
I really like this image: exobio.deviantart.com/art/Deseβ¦
Would it be possible perhaps to publish this? And id you'd be interested, would you like to write an article about the Gapuri? About 500 words-ish?Β
I'd credit of course! And this way we can get the info correct

You can publish that picture, just link it back to me of course. I wish I had the time (and energy) to write a small essay on the Gapuri, but work and school really eat my time up, but mostly my energy. You can find a lot of information on the Gapuri in my FAQ journal as well, that might give you enough to work with. Sorry for the inconvenience. I wish I had more motivation to work on my projects, I really do appreciate the interest you have in the worlds and creatures I have created and how eager you are to tell other people about them. If you have questions you are always welcome to send me a note, I usually have time enough for those.

What are those spongey looking things on the head?
Really love your art and planet. I read your thread on the forum.

They are sensory pads that are packed with nerves and electrical current sensing pores. They help the Q'porr locate its prey.

May I use the basic idea behind the tail in my own creations? I know it's tupid to ask, but at least, by doing so, I can make sure wether or not to always credit you in some way

Generally I prefer people not to take key aspects of creatures/whatever and use them in their own designs, but it's a pretty simple design, I have confidence that you could think of something different-yet-similar. I mean it's not like it's the most original concept in the world, I sort of just combined a cuttlefish and a plesiosaur when it comes to the flipper structure. But since my drawings inspired you (which I am very flattered by!) I'd always appreciate a weee bit of credit.

Trying to pronounce it's name made me feel sort of stupid. I think maybe I've got it though?

Well there are other predators I've yet to illustrate. But the ambush predator (whom I need to name), will prey on Q'porr young.

Ah, so Q'porr don't parent themselves?
π: 0 β©: 1
exo-bio In reply to Doodlebotbop [2012-08-28 06:38:02 +0000 UTC]
Nope, they give live birth to a small litter of fully capable, yet small, little Q'porrs. The parent will stick around long enough to see that their offspring aren't immediately eaten, but the young don't stay around for long. After an hour or so they are off on their own.

No, they breed with whoever is in the area.

I've spend 15 minutes now trying to pronounce the name correctly, trying it in parts and practicing different clicks and popping sounds etc. It's 10 past 3 am now. Oh well. *keeps clicking and trying to roll smooth growls after the popping sound*

It sounds sort of like "pur" after the click. Similar to how they say "Gapuri"

Nikama In reply to exo-bio [2012-09-01 22:26:08 +0000 UTC]
I think the gapuri would laugh (if they do laughing) their butts off at my pronouncing here.
