***********************************************

Arms windmilling and necklace flailing, there is hardly time to brace for the fall before Elina strikes the floor. Tensing shoulders, neck, and back, she takes the jarring collision on her arms, ribs, hips, and knees, knocking the wind from her body but reducing the impact on her head to a dull thud of her forehead on the stone floor. The heavy tap is enough to dislodge her spectacles and spray stars into the darkened vision of her clenched eyes. Ears ringing, the Scholar does not hear the light staccato plink of the glasses bouncing off into the surrounding shadows, nor the squawking cheer of success at her flank.

***********************************************

As is generally the case, Elina was drawn using awesome references given me by the awesome stock model, Emily, at Feathered-pics . If you like what you see, please let her know. Thanks, Emily!

One of the images I consulted was this one.

Enjoy!

Note: Bookbinding and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones real mistreatment of this kind toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

Actually, seeing as how we've had several bound with rope, I'm still hopeful that Elina's final capture will involve something other than rope. Jeff's been pretty creative. Plants, Wax, The Constrictor Rug. Rope's been used in a large portion of our captures, From Valerin, Deirdre, Zirena, Anna. Something else would be interesting.

Um,... I haven't pulled out all of the options, yet. There's still... uh... Jello?

This one will involve rope, but it will be a bit different as well. Thank you for the compliment! I have a few other cards still to play in the remaining storyline.

You know, I never even considered food items....link sausage   ....spaghetti   ...licorice strings  ...fruit leather  , all sorcerous, of course!

Why don't I feel so hot, all of a sudden?

Did you ever see that Young Sherlock Holmes movie from 1985 or 86? Young Watson falls afoul of a poison dart that gets him hallucinating in the cemetery, and he sees himself attacked by pastries and sausages? Did you see that one?

Yeah, that won't be happening here...

It was on at a friends place years later, watched a bit, we had to go, never saw that scene.  I tend to like my Holmes more old school: Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Jeremy Brett, and my favourite, Nicol Williamson in "Seven Percent Solution".  Haven't seen Benedict Cumberbatch yet.

Oh, there's still plenty of options. You've not even touched cocooning like spiders(you will though, we know from the Callista flashbacks), or mummification. Heck, I was convinced given your habit of the titles reflecting something that ultimately subdues the female(or a female), that Elina would run afoul of an enchantment on one of the books and its pages would unravel into enchanted strips that snared her in a sort of mummification, hence the title 'Bookbinding'.

I actually considered something like that, but decided against it for this series. Don't be surprised if a Bikini Babes in Peril image shows up with that idea, though...

Don't forget the straps for Drea, net for Annalae, and the torn strips of Elina's dress for her first capture! The fact is, there aren't many bondage materials that Jeff hasn't used already, and I think in this situation there's just too much rope available not to use it. Both Hellbinder and Van Hellthing  are actually made of rope, and Gus undoubtedly has access to whatever remains of the stock he and his departed cohorts used to subdue Valerin, such as the length he used for the trip-line. What she'll end up in afterwards is anybody's guess, however!

Beautiful.  Now she has lost her spectacles, leaving her nearly blind.  Is is too much to hope that coils of rope are about to follow?

Considering how wobbly she was before her fall, I'm sure the physical effects alone will pretty much immobilize her for a few precious minutes.  On top of that, the loss of her glasses will undoubtedly increase her disorientation and panic exponentially .

Now, if that was indeed Van Hellthing scrambling along the corridor making the whirling sounds of rope, then its immanent arrival will multiply the options of Team Evil considerably.  Since all that really has to happen at this point is for a noose to be slipped over one or both her ankles and snugged down around a pillar, as happened to Valerin in the same room, then Gus is probably capable of getting that done. With Van Hellthing around to lend a hand, as it were, I'm sure events will progress at a much faster pace.

The remaining challenge will be to separate Elina from that pesky key. There may not be much energy left in it, but it still could forestall the inevitable for a moment or two.   Without it, she is done like dinner

On behalf of Team Evil, I would like to assure you that the eventualities, contingencies, and resources you have here listed have been considered at length. The so-called Von Hellthing, while slightly short-handed at the moment, has taken steps to take it all in hand and to handle other, similarly potentially upsetting developments that could be dished out by Team Scholar...

For his part, Gus provided less commentary, but it was more poetic, as we will soon see on the upcoming pages...

Thanks!

The Demon's Due theatrical production crew includes several on-staff psychologists, therapists, and counselors to assist the models, artists, writers, and staff members with the alarming demands of their involvement in the project. We are happy to relate that there have only been four long-term committings to psychiatric wards necessary thus far, and one of them is due to have his straitjacket removed in another two weeks if things go well...

Thanks!

True.  Plus Valerin got to keep her boots.  Perhaps there's an evil optometrist who could substitute the magic lenses with non-magical plain glass, allowing us to continue to enjoy Elina the way we love her?

1nv1s1bl3Man [2014-09-28 08:25:40 +0000 UTC]

Given the magic in those glasses, this is even more disastrous than it would appear. Yes, it's all over but the "wrapping." (I'm pretty sure she considers losing her clothes preferable to losing her spectacles!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

faile35 In reply to 1nv1s1bl3Man [2014-09-29 02:52:22 +0000 UTC]

You are spot on. She's got a little bit of wiggle room because she scanned the chamber before falling and knows that the runes in question didn't appear threatening. And with the light across the room visible even in her blurred vision, she at least can move in the right direction. But if they had snatched the glasses back at the key's portal, things would have been different... Regardless, if she doesn't escape very soon, her opportunity will be lost.

jahall2 In reply to 1nv1s1bl3Man [2014-09-28 09:07:49 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. If I had been the baddie, taking her glasses is the first thing that I'd have done, even if I hadn't known that they were magic.

faile35 In reply to jahall2 [2014-09-29 02:50:12 +0000 UTC]

They tried that, but it didn't quite work because Jervil was having his "getting-to-know-you" with Drea instead of handling Elina's incarceration personally. This time around, things might be different...
