**********************************************************

Concern and doubt flash in her mind—Avora wonders if the powers of the wand will be sufficient to win free of the many threats she can sense growing about her, but she knows she’ll fare far better with it than without it. Twisting her body, the wizardess moves further onto the patch of grass and reaches for the wand, willing its cool, charged length into her grasp. As its most recent wielder, the rapport of sensitivity with it should draw it to her open hand, yet something keeps it beyond Avora's reach. Behind her, the wizardess feels the monger’s cape slip slightly in the tankroot tree’s grasp, but then it is alarmingly drawn further backwards, forcing the vulture clasp to bite into her throat.

Stayed up a bit late to get this posted. Tomorrow's posting might be a bit late, too, as a result. A man's gotta sleep, you know.

Again, this is starting to look a lot more like the Twisted Plot folks were expecting, I think. Avora was again drawn from the wonderful reference material provided by Viator-Defessus and the model "Ava." This one was a rather difficult angle on the pose to get right, but--all modesty aside--I think I got it.

Also, this reaching image is dedicated (as all of them are) to everyone favorite reacher fan, reacherfan !

Enjoy!

Note: Twisted Plot and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

That is just evil-ly just out of reach. Accio wand! And man, the look on her face is just perfect.

Thank you! I actually shortened the distance from fingertips to wand in the digital stage to give it more tension.

Just as was pointed out in the movie The Incredibles, capes are a bad idea for superheroes, and for witches too.

Well, in this story, anything that fits around the neck of the female characters proves to be a liability. Valerin is probably the best that way with her armor, but Avora has a cape to deal with, Elina has a magical key on a necklace, and a host of leashes make appearances to cause trouble for the heroines. Someone might think the artist/creator is a leash-o-phobe...

...or maybe even a leash-o-phile...

Don't you watch Supergirl?  It was right there in the first episode when Kara was learning to fly.  Without a cape she kept tumbling out of control and crashing.  Aerodynamic stabilization by means of controlled drag.  I understand the Army Air Corps tried little capes on early bombs, but discovered fins or drogue parachutes work better.  As for witches, I couldn't agree more.  All witches should be "sky-clad."  ...the hot ones, especially.

Bah!  Sleep is overrated!  And yes, this would be that "other shoe" I was talking about!  Great work on this Avora sequence.  I really enjoy this model!

Thank you! I used to overrate sleep, and then the dark god of sleep pretty near struck me down. I have to regularly pay tribute to the Great Oblivion now, even giving him part of my later morning on regular occasions. Thankfully, once properly placated, he is a pretty decent fellow, and tends to make things go much better for me during the rest of the day...

The model and photographer did a stellar job. Yes, I'm the one doing the drawing, but I'm starting with some pretty great reference material, which makes a substantial difference.

I on the other hand have an arrangement with the Great Oblivion in which he will take what is owed him from the God of Death upon my passing.

That sounds like a pretty great arrangement! I'd ask you to tell me how that all works out for you, but...

Oh, thank Gwendoline!  She's going to grab her wand and resolve the situation.  I was worried.

Say, doesn't Dernhem's version of OSHA require quick-release vulture clasps on all capes to prevent this sort of thing from happening?
Remember, kids, only YOU can prevent cape-related psycho-sorcerous strangling incidents... and forest fires.

   The more you know...

That is the most colorful post I've seen in a long time! It's like a musical jingle in just a few pixels of page space. Yes, Dernhem's OSHA released a cape-clasp clause to their legal section on "Wardrobe Regulations" that allows for a fine for any capes that are found un-shed-able in less than 2.5 seconds with a single hand. It was based on a similar law for white translucent shifts worn by barmaids at many of the local inns and taverns...

That cape is more than just a cool decoration--if she loses it, she'll be weaker, so it's worth holding on to until the page where she's forced to... well, you'll see.
