**********************************************************
Pitching forward over the path’s stones, Avora barely has time to snatch at the Wand of Antreatos. Enchanted to glide to a halt from wherever its wielder last touches it, it spins slowly ahead of her before her flailing arm catches and propels it toward the swath of mist-covered grass. Trying also to stop her fall, the wizardess' divided mind results in two half-formed actions, both ineffective. She lands painfully, her ankles still entwined and her skin scraped by stone and turf, the wand a short distance away on the muddy green-yellow of the grass.
Face down in the grass, she is stunned only a moment, during which she feels the earth’s shifting now subside behind her, and the solid rocks of the path unyielding beneath her scraped knees. The roots entwined about the ankle and toe of her boots squirm in pulsing pressure that diminishes as they extend over the path, yanked forward by Avora’s motion. But about her, on the edge of her sorcerous awareness, the great clockwork mechanism of the garden’s magical designs begins to wind and crank faster.
About done grading finals, and then the pace should pick up again.
Enjoy!
Note: Twisted Plot and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

I'm already a fan of this lady, Avora!
And a special mention goes to your other characters, especially any other female heroic (or not) characters you have created in your other stories, faile35!
Great style, great artworks... GREAT EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Alls I can say is my yoga teacher would have comments about her Chaturanga there. Her elbows are too high and her feet are BOTH supposed to be on the ground.
Oh, wait, you just tripped and fell in the grass? Never mind then, carry on!

Yeah. I imagine that, as far as physical grace and agility go, Avora is one the lower end of the scale relative to the other heroines in this story. But, since Valerin is likely close to the higher end and she does the same thing, nobody should go home from the pageant feeling too badly about themselves... www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQreew…

Well, these are the options DA provides for it, some of which might be applicable (and none of which are directed at you, of course...
).
My favorite is the last one. "I give her fall a 9.5!"

Haha, I was more thinking in the style of these old pictures:

Also I just realized, would that be "fail" or "faile"...

The potential contents of the first few pages of a Dernhem Survival Guide are coming into focus ...
Don't wander alone into creepy places.
If you do wander into creepy places, don't trip and fall.
If you do trip and fall, avoid falling onto hard surfaces such as cellar floors or stone walkways.
If you do fall onto hard surfaces, at least don't drop your mace, magic wand, or other implements of destruction.
If you do drop vital protective gear, don't let them fall just out of your reach.
And great image ... someone else already mentioned it but the effect of the smoke rising from the zombie in the upper left is particularly cool and the rolling mist is nicely shaded in too.

If her cape doesn't get grabbed by those vines, you can bet there'll be nit-picking over how she could've used it to get her wand back!

Now is not the time for your morning PT, Avora.
Jeff, that is some really good looking grass. Very lush. The pride of the neighborhood. I think your chainmail practice is paying off.
Also, the mist/zombie-smoke effect with the tree in the far right background is superb.
Also, also, Avora's muscle tone is excellent, by which I mean your drawing of her muscle tone, not the outcome of her exercise and diet regimens.
You done good art here, Jeff. I mean, there's no naked and tied-up Velmalina, but one can't have everything. I know I'm still learning to live without a good naked bondage scene for Julianne Moore, as well as a lack of naked Lucy Liu in golden chains.
Anyhoozle, it's good art, and I know everybody agrees.

Thank you! That's very flattering. I must share how the grass is done, however, as some of it is perhaps "cheating." First step is to lay down a vertical pattern of soft, dark pencil that almost entirely covers the area in question save for a few "missed" parts of the paper that will become the lighter blades of grass. Second is to smudge the area with a paper towel, at which point the unmarked streaks almost vanish. Third is to lay down a bunch of rows of random-ish-ly leaned hard pencil strokes for the darkest blades of grass and to give it a retreating feel towards the top. Last is to completely paste over the top of that a black and white photo of actual grass from my back yard...
Okay, okay, I really did that last part, but then I rendered the photo layer only 15% opaque to fill in that texture a little. So, most of what you're seeing here is actual pencil work digitally touched up.
Thanks for the compliments!

Did you get your Avora model to plant her face in your lawn? ...and is the face-shaped divot still there?

D'oh! Hate it when I fall and lay face down in the grass like that. Wonder if she can still reach for her wand? Probably difficult anyway, especially with those vines entwined around her boots. Yikes!

Every ordinary umbrella has a loop attached, so you can´t loose it. But those highly educated spell flingers never thought about using such a mundane device to keep their wands in reach of their fingers.

Well, it's kind of like attaching a wrist sling to a cannon here, and a cannon that resents wrist slings at that. The same malice that powers the thing tends to char any such attachments to a useless crisp--it would do the same to the flesh of its wielder if she/he weren't in control of it. That's why it's rigged with a security function of its own: when it is released, it tends to drift and stop, floating in the air, where if its wielder can't reacquire it, she/he probably isn't a worthy possessor in the first place...
