**********************************************************

The afforded psychic protections of the cape now lost, Avora is struck with her increased vulnerability. The monger's cape had served as a reservoir in which to stockpile the hot edge of any irrational panic within--where the wizardess had possessed a well of calm and patience to draw on now she feels a cold, knife-like edge of terror sliding through the breath in her throat. Behind her, the monger’s cape and vulture clasp are pulled off of the patch of grass to a stretch of earth now disturbed by teeming roots, swaying leaves, and yawning blossoms, and Avora trembles in the growing discomfort of the clutching green blades as she watches the black velvet vanish within the mist and shadows.

**********************************************************

As always, Avora was drawn from the wonderful reference material provided by Viator-Defessus and the model "Ava." As I've said, the model really played this whole sequence out, image by image, exactly as requested.

Enjoy!

Note: Twisted Plot and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

If I've been reading these correctly, there is nothing holding on to her in any major way right now. So she could potentially retrieve her wand and escape if she weren't focused in the wrong direction at the moment. She does have good reasons for being distracted but I'm betting that her window of opportunity is just about to slam shut. In the end, it's always the little mistakes that get you.

Yeah, nothing major that she's aware of right here, but the next page will show what she wasn't thinking of or aware of--a little mistake/assumption that really gets her by the short hairs, if you will... Thanks!

Wow, her expression, the pose she is in, and knowing the insight you give in your text to what is happening -- they all really work well together for me. Thanks for sharing! *smiles*

You're welcome, and thank you for the detailed compliment! Sometimes the narrative text is at odds with the image, but hopefully I get most of the expressions and poses right after all these years of practice.

Also, the cape kept her warm and this evening air is getting chilly!
Oh, dear. Maybe you should not have shown me how that Add Media button works.

Also, I'm thinking she should keep her eyes on her wand...

It's something we all have to go through, actually. Some of us develop an emoticon syndrome that we never quite fully heal from, though we learn ways to manage our problems pretty well. There are several functioning emoticolics who comment on her regularly, a group I aspire to join soon, though I tend to mis-use and over-use the damn things too often to consider my hopes fulfilled at the moment...

See what I mean?

Boot-roots, maggoty grass, and the entire garden smells like burnt zombies.  Avora has many concerns, but I'm sure she'll get back to not being able to reach her wand in the next panel.  Right, Jeff?

Well, no promises can be made in this regard, of course, but...

Yes. Most definitely, yes.

You're making me very glad this scene is not presented in smell-o-vision!

Amen to that.  Regarding the chill issue, have you scolded Jeff for the lack of gooseflesh on Avora's delectable body?

We actually had a long conversation about skin texture in black and white drawings. Apparently it is very difficult to do, so you're going to have to just use your imagination!

Yes, I rather enjoyed drawing it. Turns out there are many fun angles from which to draw a woman's body in a number of different (fun) positions... Who knew? Thanks a ton!

Suddenly, Avora realized she was kneeling in the maggoty grass doggy-style.  Her panic evaporated, giving way to righteous anger and a firm resolve to NOT let the garden strip away her bikini and have its herbaceous way with her naked, Stana Katic-like body.

Say, given their propensity for grabbing boots and capes with their roots, is that a grove of "clothes trees?"    I crack myself up.

Your first sentence is an awful lot of fun to read, so I did several times... You and darknessence sure do make the most of good puns. A few more good ideas and we'd have more plant types to draw into the garden...

OK....you asked for it...graspberries...clingonberries...draginberries...gropefruit...rootabaga...jerusalem artichoker...I'll stop now before the lynch mob arrives.

What's that sharp thing between her feet? The front side of her loincloth?

faile35 In reply to Edmere [2017-05-15 23:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the lower hem of the loincloth. Too light?

Edmere In reply to faile35 [2017-05-16 06:35:11 +0000 UTC]

I think so, especially since it has the exact same specular falloff as her boots, despite being a different material...

I have to admit I was skeptical about redrawing the first two chapters but a lot of these new camera angles are doing a lot to win me over

faile35 In reply to RighteousBoyII [2017-05-15 23:08:27 +0000 UTC]

Great to hear! Much of the reason behind the revision was the need to add more scenes so that the initial chapters tell as much story as the later ones (34 Twisted Plot pages vs 250 Bookbinding page?! ). Then, too, my style, skill, and approach changed dramatically from 2004 to 2011 when the decision to revise was made. And finally, the stock models Viator-Defessus found were so good for the characters in question, it made me want to draw them, which clinched the whole thing. I'm glad you're enjoying things.
