Description A tutorial I did for my friend

I like the idea that people know how I did my artwork. So in a lot of pieces I try to detail how they were done. What pens I used. The process. Art, as much as people may deny is, is technical. There are specific processes to achieve specific results.

I picked up the coloring method from a tutorial about coloring in a 'comic book' style, however, I've since lost the URL of the tutorial. If I find it I'll link it here as it may explain things I've left out.

If you have any questions regarding the tutorial feel free to ask me.

When I'm back at my regular PC I shall be trying this technique. Thanks! I have Photoshop 7.0 on my PC so I hope some of this tutorial will cross over to that.

If you find that URL again for the original tutorial I'd be interesting in seeing that too

I use a similar technique but use floodfill on multiple layers for the different colour layer I need. I can highly recommend using the burn and dodge tools to shading effects too. See here:

I'm still very much learning how to colour digitally but I'm enjoying the process. Before I seemed to spend my time screaming at the monitor in frustration when I couldn't get the results I saw in other people's work.

Many thanks again for taking the time to make this and share it with us; the great unwashed.

It's a very time consuming method, for sure.  There's a few tricks I've picked up on this method since.  Like using a gradient map on a black and white shaded area.  But that... is another tutorial.

Thanks!  As soon as I finish coloring her and her alternate costume I'll put them up.  Obviously it was a bit inspired by AM.

Good tutorial, thanks (:
Just wanted to tell: when you're doing 'merge visible', you can instead just press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E - this will make new layer from visible layers and you'll still have them (=

You're welcome!

I hope this helps you somewhat.  However, I think your artwork is already amazingly good.

I wish you'd do a comic or something like it.  Definitely love seeing AM.
