Well I meant easy if you have the tools. You'll need a 10" table saw, a jig saw, a lathe, a dremil and a belt sander. Do you have access to these?

Yeah it's big because I screwed up the scale calculations. My other versions are done to the right scale.

I ALMOST believed this was a real, metal blade. I'd actually sleep better at night knowing that someone made a real sword.
Still, this is pretty dang cool. I'd probably buy it for show since Claymore is my all-time favorite manga.

Y'know what? I ALMOST thought that was a real sword; I would sell my soul for a REAL blade like that.
For the record, I have a real Scottish Claymore that's not even sharp and it still kicks serious tail. Cleaves watermelons and pumpkins right in two as a matter of fact.

fixinman In reply to Dimension-Dino [2011-06-15 04:27:15 +0000 UTC]
Yeah the claymore is a scary sword I should make one some time as a tribute to my scottish heritage.

Dimension-Dino In reply to fixinman [2011-06-15 12:38:36 +0000 UTC]
I own a real, steel claymore myself. I've taken swings with it on watermelons and pumpkins. The blade isn't even sharp, but it can still cleave them in two nice and clean.

I saw one on the news that was a replica of the one owned by William Wallace (Braveheart}, it was six feet long and the reporter could hardly lift it. The real one is locked in a vault and no one touches it. It is said that he could split a man in two with it.

Dimension-Dino In reply to fixinman [2011-06-16 12:31:54 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I saw a claymore on TV: a show called "Deadliest Warrior". It did something I didn't even THINK was possible: it lopped off three heads in one swing. It'll take arms off, it'll take both legs out from underneath a person, so I wouldn't be surprised if it could cleave a person in half.
Six feet...dang. That's longer than I am tall.

Wow that is a really good sword. I've only made swords from foam. Is the wood pretty heavy?

No it's 1/4" thick and beveled so it is really light.

All my swords are made of wood except for the cosplay rated ones which are made of mostly insulating foam.
