I found a piece of wood in a warehouse, this is what came out of it It's hard to see but the writing on the blade is my daughters slogan "My life, My world" written in runes from the Appendix of The return of the King.Related content

Wow this looks sweet! Ill have to post my pics of them, but I carve bokken and staffs. Ive yet to take a crack at carving claymores or broadswords yet,but once im finished making one ill post it! I really love the design toward the hilt end of the blade by the way!

Yea I did happen to see. So you used ink for the runes right? If not is it woodburnt in? As far as woodburning goes, do you know if that would be a good way of inscribing japanese kanji into wooden swords or bokken?

The runes are painted on with acrylic and protecte with six coats of Varathane. If you look at Katana detail you will see Japanese painted on a sword. As for wood burning I haven't tried it, but I'd say do it before you do the handle to give you a flatter surface to work on and minimize rolling.

Good use for that piece of wood. I noticed that on 2 of your swords, you have used a similar guard, if not the same, only bigger. Looks like a broadsword

THAT would look interesting. Study Celtic art and then do your own designs based on them.
You can't see them but the sword also has Aprils motto written in runes below the flash panel. There is a full alphabet in The Return Of the King.
