Finally! A orginal Flash-R-Us with MACRO! Our mascot for FRU in his debut tutorial! Very sorry for the inactivity, but i had been trying my best in commenting your flash deviantions. but anyway, this is a very useful tutorials for your effects and stuff. hope you understand and benefit from it!
*Edit*Theres a bloober in one of the frames, where the "back" button is blocking some text. I will correct it tomorrow when i am back at work cause i did this during my working hours.

Okey I've noticed afew things about masks. Firstly that if you mask a movieclip it only takes account of the outline of whats inside the movie and not any holes it might have inside it. Ie if you tried it with this examplt you would get a big circle and it wouldn't take account for the hole in the middle.
Secondly I've noticed that two movieclips or more will result in the mask choosing one movieclip to use and discarding the rest. I was going to knock up alittle script to place the mask where you click your mouse but I can't be bothered if its just going to make a circle mask and its not going to work with multiple masks.
Anyway great tutorial and such a great effect for such a simple technique. Nice work.

yeah, thats why i said, "do not convert it to a movieclip symbol" but u can do a niffty "force field deflect" effect for that. XD

Awesome guide! I tried it out myself, check out "Practise with Masking" in my gallery!
I used the example mindwave, then a dash, then a fire uppercut, and finally a ninja teleport!
Yay! I feel inspired!
sidenote: It's spelled practise for a reason, but I'll never tell you, muahahahahaha!
