Excellent as always, GH. I love how undefined the shadow in the snow is, and the sharpness of the colors in the character. It really makes him stand out. Love it.

I like how strong the colors are. You also did a good job on the angle of the hammer, and the shading of the snow is pretty spot-on! Your style is improving.

I really like the colors in this one. It's not as softly colored as most of your other watercolor pieces, which gives it a little more kick, methinks, especially considering the subject matter.

Yeah I tried to be more bold with my colours in this one.

A classic Gh-Mongo style dwarf is always a good thing.

i didn't take a picture or nothing, i left it with my dad. i forgot how fickle acrylics could be. and i kept ruining parts of it, i'm such a painting noob

The professor I had for painting always argued that a painting could never be outright ruined. If there's a mistake, you can always paint it away. I think I'd agree.
From what I've heard, oil paint is far trickier than acrylic.

It just takes a bit of practice to get the hang of. I'm sure with your talent and your eye for colour you'll be making master work in no time!

perhaps, i was already surprised at the cool textures i could get with my brush just by moving it a certain way. i needed more time though, i did a whole 16 x 20 canvas in just about 2 hours. it was really generic though, thats why i didn't take a pic or anything.

Ah, gotcha.
I need to get back into acrylics one of these days.

they're so smooshy
and i really dig the almost watercolor like-ness of them when you add tons of water. i added a wash to the whole thing after it dried, then flicked water on it after that dried, and gave it a full brushing, it made a wicked splattery texture.

A lot of acrylic painters actually use them like watercolours from start to finish. They work a bit differently, though, since you can't lift them once they are dry.
