Maybe one of these days I'll have an art book to put it in.

What I really like about this is how you made the lighting effect on the demon to give him a menacing appearance than ever.

How long did this took you?

About 7-8 hours of painting.

Not that long, really. Grudge Match took me about 8 or 9. That's generally how much time it takes me to do a quarter-size watercolour (i.e. 8 x 10", or 20.3 x 25.4cm).

Interesting. Mostly it will take me days to finish a colored drawing.

I usually space my paintings over three or four days too, but if they're school assignments and I have tight deadlines on them, sometimes I have to stay up real late to get them finished.

Very pretty Mongo! I love the colors and contrast. The demon kinda reminds me of the Chernabog from Disney's Fantasia.

Yeah you're right, I can definitely see a resemblance.

Great work, nice choice of colours too.
could have maybe done with darker shadows but I don't know if you really can with Watercolour (a painter I am not).

Thanks a bunch!
It takes a concerted effort to get watercolours darker without going too dark. I guess I should've put more time into building those up.

Great work Gh-Mongo. I think we all have a inner demon. But I really like your shading. Love the fangs/tusks. Sweet eyes.

This looks amazing - the muted colours work so well with your (here's that word again!) style! Nice to see the stages of this picture developing too.

nice piece, emotionally powerful... like the traditional media.... I think watercolors are a very good medium for your style... kudos.

this is a "no self deprecation zone", please back away from Tom's comment slowly, and return to what you were doing....

When people say "style" I get a bit confused as to what they mean.
At this point I'm working towards fixing the fundamentals (my proportions can be inconsistent, which is what my professors tell me is my biggest weakness) in my work. I'm not quite sure if "style" plays into that much or not. It will be interesting to see what my professors at VCU say about it. My illustration professor at MC never really mentioned "style" as it relates to drawing and subconscious tendencies, but more as to what I try to do compositionally in my work. It's all very complicated.
So it's nothing about what you said, but more of me being completely and totally clueless as to my own work. Perhaps that's something that comes with time and experience?
(Sorry for blabbering.)

heheh. you're freaking out somethin' gorgeous, there. your style is just what distinguishes your art from the next person's. the medium is part of that, as is the content of your pictures, but most of it is something else that's less tangible. you don't need to freak out over it, your style is like your RL appearance; you can change it a bit with some work, but it's essentially you, and it always will be. look at these three watercolour portraits: [link] ; [link] ; [link] . do you see?

no need to apologize... what I meant (non artist here) is that your characters (the gnolls, dwarfs, goblins and such) look very nice in watercolors. It reminds me of children's books (I read like 15 a day at this point). Everything I've said was meant to be complimentary, but there are times when my ignorance on the appropriate 'art terms' shows through... sorry for that.
