Nice job! I think the smudging in his beard looks a bit odd, but it doesn't really change the impression that the drawing causes me to have.

I only know two ways. One is to leave blank spaces (like my face-skull deviation) or use my eraser to create highlights

Not bad for a quickie.
It looks kind of smudged, but i'm not sure if that's because of the way that it's scanned or the way you shaded it or what...not really a big deal, but a little bit noticable. You gotta watch out for the teeth though...methinks that they shouldn't be so big. The shapes allright, and so is the shading, but the size doesn't seem to fit. (unless, y'know, dwarven anatomy dictates less teeth per mouth than is normal...) Also, that mouth could use some definition of the throa, not a lot, mind, but at least a suggestion of a uvula would be appropos, methinks. The upper part of the left eye could use some more definition, as is, it looks smaller than it's right hand counterpart. The hair could use some more highlights, unless you like it dull...that's just an opinion, mind.
Come to think of it, it kind of looks like a mist creature popping out and yelling "Boo!"

I was going for the more smudgy look (I used a stump like nobody's business for this one), so I guess that worked.
As for the definition part, I tried to go darker but the HB pencil I had wouldn't go any darker than that, and I was getting close to matching the value of the beard if I lightened it. Your point is a good one, though.
My dwarves always have big teeth. It's just something I kinda do without noticing.

Yeah, you can kind of tell. It's not a bad look for the skin, but it tends to be smoother than you'd want for a rougher texture like hair often has. 
I realize that, and to be honest, I didn't enough notice it until this last piece.

I was doing this one while I was waiting in line at the grocery store. The lines are always really long on Saturdays for some reason. I only had my HB with me... and I was too lazy to go back over them once I got home.

the shading on it is pretty good man, especially for the time. just wonder if the mouth could have had more detail...if you stretch it wide, do you see your top teeth or the back of the throat? But its good stuff man.
