Description
Well uh, as the title says... this particular tutorial is designed specifically to try and help those who want to get a good glow effect going. It was done using Paintshop, but the concepts used in it can easily be translated into Photoshop... the only differences between the two being that Photoshop might have different names for each tool. It'll definitely help if you're already quite experienced with how to do CGing (shading/highlights), and know how to make good use of layers... so this tut could probably be considered as aiming at an intermediate level.
Let me know if you find this useful! : D

If yeh mean that back-glow, then yeah it is possible, you'll likely just need to use more layers, with some additional colours... for example I see that not only have shades of red been used there, but also some variations of light-purple.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by textured though, but I hope I've answered yer question : T

well, I say textured because it looks kinda a faint fragmented glass texture was put over the glow and panned up o.0
I guess a person would have to watch anime that shows that kind of thing frequently

*Shrugs* Dunno, they might be using some sort of masking layer, but I'm willing to bet it's easy enough to replicate that exact effect with the right tools

Question: Could these steps be used in Photoshop as well? It's very detailed, I really like it. Thanks for making this.

Thanks man, I reckon if you know your way around Photoshop then yeah you could replicate the steps... I've never used PS myself, but from what I hear both PS and PSP have the same sorta tools, just with different names. The basic concepts would still be the same at least : T
Glad yeh like it, thanks

You did good ^_^ I'm sure a lot of people will find it handy. The green text and font on the black can look a bit weird when you read it in paragraphs, just for future reference.

The green is fine, it's just that font in green in paragraphs XD It gets a bit psychedelic.
