Description
[STH #234]: To avoid destabilizing the kingdom after Naugus' coup, Elias left with his family for Feral Forest. Naugus relayed the information to Eggman who sent Mecha Sally to attack them en route.[STH #241]: With a seat vacant on the Council of Acorns after Rotor resigned, Isabella Mongoose was sworn in as his replacement. Naugus' mutation flared up during her first proposal.
A lot of necessary plot exposition here required to bring readers up to speed on previous events. Since I didn't want this to degenerate into a boring video call page, I drew Amy messing around with T-Pup to add a bit of visual stimulus.
The third panel is interesting. The storyboard shows a close-up of Sonic's face, but many readers wanted Tails to get some sleep on page 14 before flying off, which never even occurred to me. Tails wasn't supposed to be on this page at all, but I decided to draw him collapsed in exhaustion after reading your comments. Coupled with page 13 , these are examples of how reader feedback does affect Sonic Retold. Many Deviants have tried to pitch me their own 'ideas' for the comic, which have nothing to do with the story. If you really want to help develop Sonic Retold, simply continue sharing your thoughts based on what you read. I take all suggestions into account and make changes accordingly. Thanks!

By the way, I REALLY love your work as a storyteller besides being the artists. Not many people are talented as you could do both things as equally great.
And I have a question to ask you which it's been bothering me a bit. How does Elias talks like in your mind when you wrote his dialogue?

Thanks! Glad you're finding the comic as enjoyable to read as it is to look at. The story is where I place most of my focus, which is why I spent months writing the script before I even started drawing. A good story can compensate for bad artwork, but good artwork won't save a bad story. Lately I've been reading "Story " by Robert McKee and "The Anatomy of Story " by John Truby as guidebooks for helping me write the complexities of Sonic Retold with strong, meaningful character arcs.
As far as Elias goes, I've always imagined he acts and sounds like Lion-O in the 2011 Thundercats cartoon, voiced by Will Friedle. He's very brave, protective and values his kingdom. Like Lion-O, Elias lost his kingdom to an evil sorcerer and now must find out if he has what it takes inside to defeat him.

I personally would love to see Sonic crying in future issues. No man tears, no restrained stuff, actually bawling and sobbing and the like. However, it needs to be appropriate, during moments where it's needed and its justified. Think, for example, Sonic reunites with Sally deroboticized, and he cries tears of joy. I think that would be a perfect moment to show off Sonic's pent-up emotions, and fully express his feeling for her more than he's ever had before.

Dr. Eggman created the Tails Doll and dropped it in New Mobotropolis during Titan Metal Sonic's attack in issue #231. Thinking someone lost their doll, Cream picked it up and has been trying to find its owner ever since.

Wasn't part of the point of Nicole's exile within the narrative of the original comic that it was her absence that allowed the Tails Doll plan to work? And with her being there it would've been detected? And that was literally the only intelligent thing the comic ever did connected to one of shitty memes Ian tried to work into the story?

Um... not really. It's true that Nicole was absent when the Tails Doll started to wreak havoc, but Nicole is not omniscient. She failed to detect the doll when it destabilized Castle Acorn in Sonic #247. Only Cream realized its true nature.

IIRC, she was omniscient when she was an antagonist. But that wouldn't be a surprise considering that it was Ian writing.

Just came across this comic and I gave it a binge-read. I gotta say, I'm liking it quite a bit so far! one question though: you ARE going to bring in Sally's redesign once you deroboticize her, right? I wasn't too thrilled with a lot of what the reboot did either, but one thing that I DID really approve of were all the character redesigns. I loved how all the rebooted "Sega-Sonic-ified" character designs came out, especially the ones of the Freedom Fighters. Sally's, Bunnie's, Nicole's, Rotor's and Antoine's designs all looked, in my opinion, MUCH better after the reboot. I can tell you've been reading Archie Sonic for a lot longer than I have, (I started around the vicinity of 190) so I hope your nostalgia won't get too in the way of letting you realize that a lot of the Archie Sonic character designs from the 90s and 2000s really don't fit the proper Sonic The Hedgehog aesthetic. Let Sally have her laser swords!....and her pants!

Tails programed some personality into that robot pup. Kind of makes one wonder why Tails is not the one ruling the world with his robots. Seeing that he is a kid, he probably will be making robots far more superior than anything Eggman could dream of making at some point. is it the lack of resources? He could save the lives of his friends by building a robotic army. Or perhaps its Tails' greatest fear of becoming like Eggman?

I think it's more the fear of becoming corrupted with the power like Eggman is, rather than not actually being able to do so should he put in the effort to try - there is his Moebius counterpart Miles, who when he was last seen had effectively become "the man behind the man" to Alicia (Anti-Sally) ruling the planet after Scourge's defeat. That alone heavily suggests the "Prime" Tails is capable of doing the same kind of thing.

That would make him one of the more interesting characters. I don't know anything about Moebius, but I never really followed the comics much. which is a shame since I hear they do alot better with Tails than the games and TV shows do.
