Description Sometimes our best traits only do harm, our strongest, most human feelings have to be kept down. Sometimes we have to put leash and muzzle on, and shut up.
But it still howls away on the inside, echoing between the ribs, ringing in the skull. It still cries, and pleads, and frets helplessly.

Sometimes, when you know you want to help, but will do harm, you have to stay away.

(times like these, we lose all grip on objectivity.) drawn while on the train from work one evening, during one such time.

Thanks for the kind words - coming from you,I'm flattered.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I went on something of a raving-lunatic faving spree through your gallery without leaving so much as an explanation for any of it. I found your gallery while searching for Brave New World-related stuff, and I have to say, I really like your penmanship, your way with faces, your linework, and goddamnit...your Faust and Mephisto stuff.*nods*I'll definitely be back for another look - you clearly have a head full of interesting things.

I love that you did! That's always a most wonderful thing to come back to this site and see... that someone has thoughtfully gone through and likes many of your things... I need to get more into the swing of drawing again though, because for some time I've felt incredibly uninspired, drained, etc... but I know it's still in me AND you did leave some lovely explanations-- detailed & sympathetic, for which I'm grateful

heh, I went back and left the explanations some time after my faving spree...
I know what you mean about needing to get back into the swing of it - sometimes it just seems to disappear - wether it be due to doubt or other disinclination or just a lack of time. (ok, that last one is usually an excuse. when you -want- to draw, you draw at the expense of sleep and overdue papers if you have to).
Any idea what might have taken it out of you lately?

Good question, and observation... I think that people don't always draw at the right time, because their schedule is murdered up before a bunch of vulture-like swoopers-down-upon vying for your time, such as school, work, and so on... hence the world suffers, as people turn more and more into carelessly detached zombies and less and less into motivated, inspired human beings. For me, those are the things that've drained me of late, and I look forward to this semester's last day of imprisonment in the first-mentioned and the surely recklessly wild and wonderful "balancing-out" that is sure to follow~

sometimes, when you can't speak or act for fear of doing harm, drawing's the only outlet left, really.
Reaching out on paper is harmless.
as the latin saying goes "epistola non erubescit".

All the brown paper drawings date to a recent, unprecedentedly tumultuous time in my life - it's bizzare how feelings typically perceived as constructive can make monsters of us, sometimes. i have no words to articulate what it was like, or even make sense of it, but the pictures serve as a kind of chronicle...

and thanks for your kind words...

I always say: paper is patient, it is able to bear anything, it won't complain and I am very happy about that fact, I dare say this has saved me and also my marriage many times, so I guess I can understand you somehow without knowing the details
and I am glad for you that you are better now
